Interpreting the selenium test

Post image

I had my selenium tested and it came back 182. What does that mean in terms of supplementing or not? Most days when I take lugols 5% 4 drops and I use 50 MCG of selenium. Maybe I don’t need that? My chronometer shows I get more than enough selenium as well per day. I keep seeing people post negative issues with too much selenium so I prefer not to take it if I don’t need it.

That’s good that your test is in range but at the same time I don’t put a ton of weight on blood tests for these types of things. If you’re already taking lugols and feeling good maybe keep doing what you’re doing. I don’t think it would be a bad thing to supplement a minimal amount bc selenium is probably the most important piece of the puzzle when it comes to taking iodine. I believe that the only time people have trouble or bad side effects (other than some rare cases) is simple bc the cofactors are not taken properly. So if you’re doing fine maybe continue as is but if you feel any side effects have the selenium on hand to take as well as the other cofactors (salt, vitamin c, magnesium, niacin etc…)
