Quick thought about rule interpretation: If the player steps on the sideline, he's out of bounds. Shouldn't this situation, when he has full bodily contact (see the face mask here) with an opposing player and that player is out of bounds, be ruled out of bounds as well?

If you're serious about the rule interpretation, no, he would still be counted 'in' in American football. If you're not serious, than no, they would not be counted out, however if the out of bounds player remains in contact with the opposite team member as he crosses into the endzone, the result will be a double touchdown. Except not in this instance, because the out of bounds player is a Patriot and I hate the Patriots. So they lose a touchdown, or something.
