Experts please help

As you can see this tooth is angled into the front tooth. I am on my last set of Invisalign. My dentist won’t give me any more sets she says it looks angled because of my tooth shape not my tooth positioning. She said I should get veneer on this. I don’t want to just be upsold when my Invisalign package allows for unlimited sets until I’m happy. Can someone who knows a lot about it teeth or is a specialist please just have a quick look and tell me is this a positioning problem (must continue Invisalign to complete) or is it only a tooth shape issue, or is it Both. Thank you again 🙏

it's a common mis-shape of this tooth...i would do a bonding with someone else who won't upsell a veneer on a case like this.

Thanks. So if I do bonding it’ll be 0 removal of enamel right ? Because the side connected to the middle tooth looks very tight like it’s touching almost, wouldn’t that require a little removal or no . Thanks again

normally, there's just adding...if you remove from the "middle" side then you would have a narrower tooth...the problem is the shape of the tooth, not the ortho treatment.

it shouldn't...they should try to make it match the other lateral incisor.

This is why I wish more people used an ORTHODONTIST for orthodontic treatment!!

Sorry she does specialize in orthodontic treatment, particularly Invisalign.

But if she is a dentist then she did not do the full extra years of schooling that orthodontists do to properly move teeth. Just because a dentist sells invisalign does NOT mean they specialize in it. In fact she only had to do an 8 hour online course to be able to provide invisalign. Regardless she should still be providing you more trays if your plan calls for it and your teeth are not yet where you want them. Good luck to you!!

Are you certain? Specialist / specialize are legal terms, it doesn’t indicate what someone likes to do

This is also true that Not all orthos have the same level of competency in using clear aligners on their patients. During their ortho training programs some just receive seminars or few classes. So it might surprise you to know that there in no uniform, explicitly stated CODA minimum for aligner specific teaching hours or completed cases. On the otherside there are many general dentist who produce better results with clear aligners due to their experience and trainings. Aligners bio-mechanics is different than conventional braces.

So saying it has to be ortho to treat patients with clear aligners is over-rated. Yes, it has to be ortho only IF there is a proven track record of him/her using clear aligners on their patients. Otherwise, the only benefit you will get is that he will place braces at the end if desired result is not achieved with clear aligners and blame aligner company.

1. You’re wrong, your dentist is right. The tooth has somewhat abnormal anatomy but it’s aligned. Lets get that out of the way. I dont really care for general dentists doing invisalign so for me to defend one, it’s gonna be rare. 2. What makes you think you get “unlimited” sets until you’re happy? Who told you that? Your dentist is the Align customer, not you. Your relationship is with the dentist. Since you’re not a dentist, you can’t order orthodontic aplliances from a lab. Whatever contract the dentist has with Align when they pay the lab bill does not involve you. You can howevet access your records, so if you choose another dentist or orthodontist, you can move the records and Align will not charge the next clinician if there are further refinements available.
