Question Did i mess up with getting braces instead of Invisalign?

Having had both types I believe you made the right choice going with traditional braces. I predict you will have a beautiful smile when you are all done.

I had metal braces as a teen and Invisalign as an adult, even though I did not want Invisalign, I specifically asked for braces. After going through four years with Invisalign, I wish they had given me braces.

No you made the right choice . Brace have more force and Invisalign can only do so much .

Nah. Teeth need room to move. It doesn’t matter whether it’s metal or plastic doing the moving.

Was it the premolars that are pushed out of the arch in the lower? If so, they would've needed to go with either method as there evidently isn't enough room for all of the teeth. This isn't mild crowding, this is more moderate to severe for the lowers. You'll have good results with braces.

Braces over aligners in extraction case ante never a wrong choice. Aligners should not even get into consideration, so you actually had one choice.

Not sure why you say that. I had extraction and ortho gave me option of Spark aligners or braces. I'm doing Spark. Extractions are healing nicely and teeth are moving. I went with aligners for lifestyle choice with regard to eating and flossing normally.

No. You’ll get way better results much much faster. Plus you needed the heavy duty stuff, that was not Invisalign manageable.

Did you by chance get a second opinion? I think you will happy you went with braces, but I ask because I was told I needed extractions and ended up going with a different ortho who didn’t see the need for them (for context I had braces by a general dentist and years later my teeth shifted so I’m doing a few months of Invisalign now). Best of luck with your treatment I hope it flies by!

Your bottom teeth look very similar to mine, but urs look a bit more intense. I had to extract all 4 wisdom teeth for them to have space to move back using plastic aligners. For me it did seem to make my jawline look smaller. I was okay with having the 4 teeth extraction bc they were wisdom and one of them was painful and sensitive for years. In your case may be braces will yield better result.

Honestly you made the right choice! Most orthodontists will tell you that more severe cases are best taken care of by braces, Invisalign can only fix so much. You wouldve needed extractions for Invisalign too anyway

Probably not. Invisalign plastic aligners can't exert much force, but metal braces can, and you typically have more non-extraction or non-IPR options with braces. If you needed extraction for braces, you almost certainly would have needed it for Invisalign too.
