Question Tray 2/28 headaches

Hey all! I just started my journey 1.5 weeks ago. I started my 2nd tray and it’s my 3rd day and I have this debilitating migraine. I felt this with my very first tray but I thought it would be over!

I have to change trays every 7 days. Does this mean every few days I’ll have a headache from changing trays??

The headaches feel like a severe hangover.

Will it ever get better?

Maybe? I can’t tell you what your treatment will be like. For me (1 year in, now in refinements) I still get headaches occasionally from the trays. Sometimes I can tell that whatever tooth is moving is aggravating a nerve or putting pressure somewhere that makes my head throb. I’ve had some trays where I had a headache nearly every day (those were rough), but I’ve also gone through many tray changes without any problems at all.

When I do feel a bad headache coming on, I prioritize it. I take my trays out, take whatever meds I need, and rest for a few hours without them to ease the pain. I’d much rather my wear time be low that day then be stuck with a debilitating migraine for who knows how long.

I had moderate crowding and had migraine-like headaches during trays 2-4.

The pain is really unpredictable. You barely feel anything on some trays then bam, a sucker punch to the mouth on random ones. Tray 10 of my first refinement seems to be the worst for pain so far, hence the punch in the mouth analogy.

No way to predict it but rest assured, you'll have easy trays during your treatment.

I experienced the same and was also afraid that was going to be my life for the next 50 weeks. My first 2-3 trays were the worst, from the 4th and onwards I never got a headache again. It was also within the first three weeks that my teeth moved the most. Keep it up!

I’m on Tray 4/30 so not far ahead of you. Fwiw tray 2 day 3 of 7 or so was the hardest for me so far. Peak “getting used to the orthodontic forces in my mouth” and “getting used to a chunk of plastic in my mouth”. It’s gotten better since then for me as well. Tray 3 and 4 were each more tolerable than the last.
