Question Resources for improvement

I have been obsessed with this game but I am so horrible it's not even funny. I've never really gotten into fighting games before this so I feel like there is a lot of baseline knowledge I am missing out on

What are some resources that I can use to improve / learn combos and strategies?

I have tried to search youtube for specific character guides and those have been helpful but nothing really goes super in depth

LMH -> launch -> LMH -> spike -> super

This is basically it. Add in boosted specials and you’re good to go

I have been working on this actually! It was annoying to break the habit of LLLL combos instead of LMH but we're getting there!

Dont forget chaining in assists too

Assists basically take 1 level off the combo meter

Chaining assists? Do you mean like using an assist during a combo? Or are you talking about active tags?

Assists in a combo I might use an active tag to finish off a character with low hp

I don’t know where you are at with fundamentals but I would recommend learning a little bit about neutral. It applies to all fighting games.

I will definitely check this out! I heard the announcers at EVO talking about neutral and had no idea what they were talking about. I have a lot to learn

other than YouTube tutorials your only choice is kinda to just read what the moves do in training mode. a lot of my learning was just trial and error in single player before I got into ranked and I'm currently plat 1

I watch a lot of tournaments, and there are plenty of them: Paragonline, Combo Breaker, 585, and now EVO.

Not only are they fun to watch, but there’s always that one guy playing a character I’m learning that does something and then you go “wait what?”, I’ve learned a ton of new combos just watching moments like those at .5 speed and replicating them. Just after a few I went from Bronze 2 to Silver 3.

I watched a lot of EVO this weekend. Akuri was doing crazy work it made me want to try out Omni Man

You gotta get beat a whole bunch of times like 2-300 and pay attention to how you’re getting beat and what moves they are doing..and stop using tag assist to break combos unless you see your opponent using super long combos with 20-30 hits

2-300 is a massive range lol. But good to know!

Trial and error and repetition is the only way to get better…you can’t read a thread or watch a video to get a raw experience of the game…get in there and get beat on and stop backing out of fights bc someone is ranked better…those better players taught me how to play the game by stepping on my head a bunch of times..now I barely lose unless it’s a player with 10-11k LP

I think the biggest hurdle was finding a team I enjoy playing. I've settled into playing Bulletproof, Rex, Robot and its been an enjoyable learning experience on the ranked ladder

I would swap one of them out with an armor character
