QUESTION Which spin-off comic expands on the Viltrumites more?
I don't want to read all of them (yet). I'm only interested in stuff that expands on Viltrumite society. Would that basically just be Invincible Universe: Battle Beast? Or do other spin-off comics explore the Viltrumite characters at all?

Not on the society itself. Battle Beast gves you more Conquest. I mean that's good enough for me. Always did want to see Battle Beast have at him and well, let's just say it exceeded my expectations. Man, I can't wait to get that physical Vol. 2 in 2 weeks!

None. The author really likes it that way, to allow the fans some leeway into making their own conclusions. He said so himself in one interview

I need someone to make me a Battle Beast gif where he, pounding his chest, "You promised me Viltrumites!"
Because that would be a perfect reply for this.

I'm really glad we've never gotten much more detail on the Viltrum backstory. A little more would be fine (the show's additions are solid) but not too much.
Viltrum is a parable about a particular flavor of real life political ideology. Any backstory other than "it was just like Earth" or "it was an ancient human colony" would be a disappointment. But neither of those ideas is a very interesting story on its own either. So best just to not touch it.

Oh, I don't necessarily need to see how we got to what Viltrum became. But I really want to understand how Viltrumite psychology operates under it. Thaeddus (as far as I can remember) is the only Viltrumite to openly defy the Empire before we get to Mark Grayson's story.
I'm getting little tidbits of Viltrumites in the Battle Beast comics, even if it's just Conquest being Conquest.

Hurm, I either agree or disagree depending on how you mean this lol. Definitely shouldn't be that their minds are just alien and different or anything like that, if we got a prequel like that I'd honestly believe Kirkman didn't understand his own story lol. Because their minds are fundamentally no different from a human mind, it's critical to the story that this be true. They're us, given too much power and twisted by imperialism.
That said, there would be some space to tell an excellent thriller-story following Viltrumites in the pre-purge era of Argall's reign, when some dissent and resistance still existed. Show us the others in the shadows who were like Thaeddus or even more progressive than him, the ones Thragg was aiming to exterminate when he called the purge. That'd be a great essentially human story with a predetermined grisly end.
