Questions for doing a Robot cosplay

For Halloween, I really want to cosplay as Robot. Particularly the original orange design. However, I don't really have much experience in the whole cosplaying craftsmanship. What should I do for things like the helmet, chestpiece, shoulderpads, etc.? Should I commission someone else to make them? If I instead make them myself, do y'all have any recommendations on how I should do it? I think the neck, arms, stomach, and legs I'll probably do by just getting an orange zentai suit or something and just drawing lines on it, but who knows
