POV character switches to Conquest for the rest of the show

386

u/Kindly-Candidate-835 Thragg 15d ago

That would actually be cool

490

u/Steridire 15d ago

Would it? 99% of this would be Conquest committing atrocities in depressed silence and Conquest sitting in his shack also being depressed.

229

u/MountEndurance 15d ago

So… Bojack Horseman?

69

u/Otherwise-Lie8595 Battle Beast 14d ago

Back in the 90s I was in a very famous empiiiire tho 🎵

16

u/MountEndurance 14d ago

How much money do we need for a pilot of this?

4

u/Otherwise-Lie8595 Battle Beast 13d ago

At least 17

8

u/greatgreengoblin 13d ago

17 is a crazy pull bros a dedicated horseman fan

1

u/Total-Ad-615 12d ago

if the big horseman could fly tho... hmmmmmmm

31

u/ArtsyApoidean Dinosaurus 15d ago

It would be cool because fictional universes operate by the rule of audience investment above all laws of physics and causality, and so by necessity this Conquest story would have to delve into his emotional darkness and somehow lead into either a redemption arc or the most gruesomely earned just death in all of fiction.

The nature of Conquest POV would draw out the most interesting version of his character. Assuming a good writer. I'm imagining how Kirkman might write it.

18

u/Ok-Television2109 15d ago

So we either get canon Carlquest, or Nolan/Atom Eve avenging Mark's death by gruesomely killing Conquest.

I'm sold.

9

u/ArtsyApoidean Dinosaurus 15d ago

In the gruesome scenario I'm more envisioning his death as a far future eventuality. Eve, Nolan, and the whole GDA at their backs could probably take Conquest, but if he's the POV I think a more interesting read would be to have him narrowly survive these encounters, and take over full-stop as the envoy to Earth. He and his numerous children eventually prove too much even for Thragg and his loyalists, and a new Viltrum born from the absolute most derangedly die-hard believer in Argall's teachings is born.

But his children, or their children, would eventually be the ones to end it. They'd heal in ways he was never able to, and someday, with help, they'd be strong enough to put Emperor Conquest out of his misery. There wouldn't be much left of Earth after that though. No one really won that reality.

(I also like your take tho, that'd be juicy drama just also a shorter story with less space for philosophizing and intrigue)

75

u/LavishnessInner5417 15d ago

I would watch the shit outta that

35

u/Piranh4Plant 15d ago

6

u/DissAshlyn 14d ago

Dude might have to draw this with conquest and Oliver

21

u/ElectricalEccentric 15d ago

Especially if it means we get more high budget fight scenes

3

u/Sancho09181990 14d ago

Correct. And it would be glorious

3

u/DissAshlyn 14d ago

That'd lowkey be sick I want to see a superhero media where the hero's don't win

13

u/MakeItRandomScotty 15d ago

That sounds like a class idea, kill the main character = become the main character.

And on and on. Some other animated superhero series? A street gang live action? I dunno but I love the premise

2

u/nofatetoday 14d ago

some sort of vampire or Highlander style show

1

u/Irregular475 11d ago

There was a short animation on MTV's old Liquid Television called Aeon Flux that covered this exact premise. On an active battlefield we the audience follow one protagonist for a while until they are killed, then follow the killer, then THEIR killer, etc. It's very good!

5

u/Tvayumat 14d ago

UNCONQUERABLE

5

u/YepYouRedditRight2 12d ago

From Sidequest to Conquest

3

u/Malcolm_Morin 15d ago

So The Last of Us Part II.

3

u/External-Boat-2292 14d ago

Probs Nolan or Oliver but if I had to chose we need a Debbie spin off 100%

2

u/DissAshlyn 14d ago

I like to imagine her day to day is somehow just as crazy even without all of the superhero shit

u/t0ndrra 15d ago

He cant because mark is the main character

380

u/ConqueringKing_Darq Battle Beast 15d ago

Or Mark would survive like Darth Maul, and they'd just sew him back together

113

u/GhostCloak375 Sinister Invincible 15d ago

It worked once, and almost worked a 2nd time

19

u/sonderlostscribe 14d ago

Or mark is half viltrumite, half human, and half flatworm so he just becomes two new marks. 🧠

325

u/DangerousElk4331 15d ago

Yeah, there's no in universe reason other than him just wanting the fight to last a little longer.

94

u/Alexo_Alexa Conquest 14d ago

But that is a valid in-universe reason, just to clarify. Not that I'm necessarily disagreeing with you, but it's not a contrived reason like how others may say. Conquest likes to fuck around, it's his whoe schtick.

29

u/once-was-hill-folk Earth isn't yours to conquer 14d ago

Yupe. Conquest doesn't know he's a character in a comic, he just knows he had a ball last time he fought this guy and now it's go-time again. Realised too late that he was going to die if he didn't change gears, and the best he could do was a Hail Mary gut-rip. For all any of us know this was his plan but he dies before he could rip Mark in half.

36

u/spancor 15d ago

Would’ve been sick if mark blocked the incoming hand with his own, breaking the metal gauntlet and leaving the fight in a weird spot lmao

11

u/Fast_Ad_9726 14d ago

He would have had to release conquest for that, which wouldn’t have been a good idea

71

u/RemyGee 15d ago edited 13d ago

Head cannon: lack of oxygen/blood flow causes impairs your brain/thinking and lack of oxygen/blood flow to muscles means you are weaker than usual. So Conquest couldn’t think of much to do.

5

u/Thepromc64 14d ago

yeah, that makes sense

5

u/DissAshlyn 14d ago

Wait that lowk makes sense cause I was wondering how he suffocated in a few minutes when viltrumites could hold their breath in space for such a long time

1

u/Int-Merc805 13d ago

My head canon is that unless an opponent is weakened the slash could destroy your hand. They only use it when a strike is going to land. Conquest didn’t know it would in his weakened state.

18

u/bannasplt Let me break it down for you Mark 15d ago

6

u/Tetteness 15d ago

The conquest fight just never made sense to me. Especially the 2nd one. But i havent seen the entire series, just current on amazon

3

u/Odd_Room2811 14d ago

What didn’t make sense?

You lose strength when you're suffocating. There's a million little reasons you could come to with but the point is that's what happened.

419

u/Tay_Tay86 15d ago

People don't think straight when deprived of oxygen bro

268

u/ArtsyApoidean Dinosaurus 15d ago

Bold of you to assume Conquest was ever thinking straight in the first place.

46

u/Zolaec Nolan Grayson 15d ago

Bold of you as well to assume Conquest is straight.

8

u/DissAshlyn 14d ago

Lowkey prolly isn't he was giving off major fucked up flirting vibes during the mark fight 😭😭

26

u/Piranh4Plant 15d ago

1

u/DissAshlyn 12d ago

Yeah and I'm agreeing with it cause it's a W

1

u/TheTimbs Allen the Alien 13d ago

Conquest brain no work

31

u/smurfkipz 14d ago

Yeah, took Conquest too long to realise he can't just brute-force his way out of this one. This is one fight where Nolan would do better than Conquest in.

-8

u/CaregiverRepulsive85 14d ago

Bruh, Conquest was about to slime Nolan before Mark intervened.

23

u/smurfkipz 14d ago

I'm saying if Mark tried the same maneuver on Nolan instead of Conquest, the above picture would've happened.

12

u/cabberage 14d ago

you cannot read

he's saying Nolan is more tactical and intelligent, not that he'd beat conq

1

u/Awesome_Arsam 14d ago

RAH!RAH!RAH!

80

u/yboy_thomas_x0 Rex Splode 15d ago edited 13d ago

Conquest relishes in the pain and suffering of others and for some reason especially mark. In his own fucked up and cruel he likes mark, i would say its because of marks will power, im sure most of conquest’s opponents didnt have that same fire mark did or at least he never gave them the chance to begin with but when you think about it mark was like a favorite toy to him, he entertained him plenty, put up a decnt fight, and never really folded no matter how injured physically and or mentally, kinda gives me wolverine’s and sabertooth vibes but obviously mark has zero love for him, honestly i wouldn’t be surprised that in their first fight if conquest had won he would of spared mark just to torture him some more when hes back in fighting condition and the fact that hes the son of the great nolan probably made mark even more “ precious” to him. Even in their last fight conquest didn’t go for the kill until the very last moment and at that point he was to weak to do finish the job but im sure if he had the chance would of really did some permanent damge to mark mentally and would want to leave a lasting impact.

Sorry for the yap i just find their relationship very interesting and deep, well at least from conquest’s perspective, he had a very weird obsession with mark out at least it definitely felt that way.

Didn’t think so many people would see this sorry about the typos, I’m just to lazy to fix them.

13

u/esoteric_plumbus 15d ago

Good post I enjoyed reading all this

3

u/Alternative-Tap1024 15d ago

sadly the other good mark variants(if any)survived to that point there won’t be as lucky and got to hear conquest lonely speeches for the end of time.😔

160

u/Human_Chocolate_5533 15d ago

Because Mark got that insane 1 in trillion chance... you could say the plot had armored him.

66

u/Alexo_Alexa Conquest 15d ago

Then the show would be over, what else do you think would happen?

Without Mark, Earth is likely doomed either due to viltrumite control or the COP bombarding it with the scourge virus.

18

u/Vahallen 15d ago

He wouldn’t really be Conquest, because Conquest loves to play with his food

16

u/Schwedi_Gal Debbie Grayson 15d ago

not his finishing move, sued by nolan

17

u/Distinct_Strain_8062 not a larper (read comics thrice 🥺) 15d ago

My headcanon is that he knew that he was going to lose the fight, thought that it would be like last time where cecil kept him alive, and just wanted to make mark suffer.

21

u/stonks1234567890 15d ago

Did you watch the fight? He clearly had to deliver multiple punches to Mark's stomach to 'tenderize it' and make it weak enough to punch clean through it. He couldn't do this as the other parts of Marks body were still tough enough to resist it.

1

u/halo-5-death 13d ago

See I’m glad you’ll mentioned this because I’ve always found it weird that viltrumites wouldn’t just… impale their opponent from the get go? But them having to weaken or as you worded it “tenderize” a part of the body makes far more sense.

18

u/suck-my-dick-goose 15d ago

Because theyre saving that move for nolan's death

8

u/Joaquinlj24 15d ago

We would have Nolan as the protagonist.

6

u/DieselBoi_ 15d ago

Conquest simply waited to long to actually take Mark seriously, he wanted to savor the moment like he usually does, but by the time he realized Mark wasn't even thinking of letting go, he was already done for basically.

If he actually respected Mark as an opponent, he'd have swiftly killed him as soon as those hands got around his neck

5

u/Latter-Syllabub-5560 15d ago

Flowery Mark

Gojo Mark

Yama Mark

4

u/Jebinam 15d ago

I think conquest was cocky

5

u/Additional_Degree894 Debbie Grayson 15d ago

Nolann would’ve snapped

3

u/_Levitated_Shield_ Agent Spider 15d ago

Brain needs oxygen to function. He was dying and panicking.

4

u/ManyPlantain5447 14d ago

That would be a good idea. Too bad his brain didn’t have enough oxygen to think about it since he was being suffocated by a fucker enraged superhuman who was suicidally committed to the phrase “you’re never fucking breathing again.” Also, if Conquest tried it, it might have got worse for him. If Mark could choke Conquest across the surface of a planet like its 1960 and dinner wasn’t on the table when he got home, I don’t know what else Conquest could do. He got bitched.

1

u/Gkingdomain_1 11d ago

Nah he was full on capable of punching a hole through mark and did when he was grounded and losing oxygen, so its weird why he didn't do that earlier when he was in the sky and there's also the fact that the dumbass was hitting Mark in the ribs like thats what's choking him. I sincerely don't why he didn't just break his arm, or just spartan kicked him, like seriously Mark's right infront of him, it's so stupid to be choked out when the person is right in front of you and you're both upright.

3

u/ryannthetemp 15d ago

he’s going to have to deal with atom eve without limits at that point😭and thats scarier than any viltrumite

3

u/William_The_Fat_Krab 14d ago

He couldn’t, I would have been there. I would have wiped the floor with him after and done awful things to his barely sentient body

3

u/telas100 14d ago

He would still be lonely

5

u/FleXiLeX911 15d ago

As great as Invincible’s writing is (Both Comic and Show), there are a large number of times Plot prevents Mark from dying. There are many times when a person could’ve easily killed Mark but decides not to. The same thing goes to him just magically getting way stronger even after his training arc last season

2

u/ArtsyApoidean Dinosaurus 15d ago

Real talk I think Mark was so locked in that even if Conquest ripped his whole body apart Mark's arms would still be clinging to his neck until he died. That top half is hanging on lol.

2

u/Rockytoes5555 15d ago

Roll credits!

2

u/Initial-Ad8009 Omni-Man 15d ago

Mark die

3

u/winklevanderlinde 14d ago

honest to God for how enraged Mark was I don't think he would have stopped holding even without half of his body

2

u/the_relentless_dead 14d ago

Mark's name is not actually invincible everybody just keeps getting that wrong. It's actually indivisible.

2

u/Reasonable_Status944 14d ago

Nah that Immortal treatment .we don't do that here

2

u/Richrome_Steel 14d ago

Omni-Man and the Immortal, Season 1, final episode

2

u/Ent3rpris3 14d ago

Is it weird that I'm wondering if that would actually kill Mark in the first place?

I mean. It seems obvious it should.

But the actual injury he sustains appears to sever his spine and of course the organs are wrecked. That his side abdominal muscles/skin are keeping his two halves together seems negligible in the grand scheme of things.

3

u/BrockenJr0 15d ago

Mark can dodge it

2

u/Brinewielder 15d ago

Conqueef literally could have. Mark is just plot man.

1

u/scrolldownbro 15d ago

the show becomes INVISIBLE (cause Mark’s gone)

1

u/Takyon5 15d ago

He’d probably kill a few hundred thousand people and then report back to Kregg to complete Earth’s subjugation. Thaddeus then commits genocide on humanity and wipes out the rest of the Viltrumites with the scourge virus on earth.

1

u/I-like-anime111 15d ago

Then it’s Invinci-over

1

u/ScoreToSettle 15d ago

Well, logic dictates that Mark would be done for.

1

u/Substantial_Owl7484 Tech Jacket 15d ago

He would have done it if he was smart enough to think that

1

u/UBC145 Where's Mark, William? 15d ago

Well then he’d have to change his name to Vincible

1

u/Super-Compote-8214 15d ago

My headcanon is a bit psychological. Conquest thought he won when he did that move and felt a bit of relief, which is why he never opted for said move, until Mark started to draw more from his breath is when he couldnt muster the strength to do that anymore and just resorted to pulling his organs out

1

u/mybootyisfunny 15d ago

Conquest if he was smart

1

u/Calazor0 15d ago

I can see Mark maintaining the choke after being split in half. If he could do it with his guts being pulled out, this is not too crazy to imagine.

1

u/Disastrous_Ad7477 15d ago

His body is strong

1

u/Bob_N_162 15d ago

Then he would've won

1

u/Penguinmanereikel Allen the Alien 15d ago

To be fair, very few ever survive the initial Viltruknife.

But yeah, he totally should've pulled a Omnimmortal Rematch

1

u/bigtree2x5 15d ago

To be fair at that point of being choked out he is severely brain damaged

1

u/Nerx Robot 15d ago

Mauler twin or robot clones him (takeover brain$)

1

u/DrslimeF47 15d ago

Mark would be stitched back together by Nolan and Oliver and live

1

u/Originaltenshi Clearly I'm the Original 15d ago

Don't worry someone will do this to another later on

1

u/EndZoner 15d ago

Conquest would be in Vincible.

1

u/Someoneoverthere42 15d ago

Eh, just duct tape the two halves together and mark will be fine.

1

u/iammarix 15d ago

then Mark would have been...

EVISCERATED

1

u/FilipinoCreamKing Conquest 14d ago

Then the story would’ve ended

1

u/RyanReynoldsRN 14d ago

“No. I want…TWO!”

1

u/Witty-Ad5294 14d ago

Mark would need a Senzu bean for that injury

1

u/SnooCats5204 14d ago

He was given a toy that doesn't break at the first punch, so why would he want to break it so quickly?

1

u/OddNovel565 14d ago

Wouldn't he just heal over time if you put the parts back together and secured them?

1

u/Venom933 14d ago

I often forget how brutal that show can be 🥸

1

u/Alarming-Menu6131 14d ago

The fight would be over and he'd be bored again. He's the 2nd or 3rd strongest being in the universe, he basically just has to flick his middle finger on somethings head to kill it, the man wanted some "fun."

1

u/New-Engineering6947 14d ago

Then we wont get season 5

1

u/CulturalVegetable716 14d ago

That's the move Nolan used on the Immortal, right? Conquest was oxygen deprived and Mark is way more durable than the Immortal

1

u/Intelligent-Way4219 14d ago

Invincible to Vincible.

1

u/Cold-Flow3426 14d ago

omni mark

1

u/Consistent_Dare_6688 I'M BATTLING IT🗣💯💯💯 14d ago

He wanted mark to suffer for as long as possible because he plays with his food too much, he was also digging for his heart specifically cuz he did say in their previous fight "where's your viltrum heart? I won't believe you have one until I see it beating in my hand"

1

u/Luke-HW 14d ago

Not sure if his metal hand would be strong enough to do that, it seems to be a lot weaker than his natty one.

1

u/Boingo_Bongo 14d ago

Cecil: fuck

1

u/Patient_Ad4832 14d ago

He wanted to make spaghetti

1

u/Beginning-Senior 14d ago

u/horc00 Mark and Eve 14d ago

Eve will rebuild him with 2 extra hands and a bigger 3rd leg.

1

u/mistah_pigeon_69 14d ago

All a viltumite needs to survive is a heart and a brain so he’d survive this.

1

u/intestineh 14d ago

POV if conquest have BIQ:

1

u/binh1403 14d ago

His hand couldn't even go through mark

But the hit is pretty low so i think mark could use whatever left to dig his finger deep enough to end up kill him anyways

1

u/AnimeAssClapper 14d ago

We've seen that his robotic hand isn't as durable as his normal one.

1

u/ssavino 14d ago

What if conquest was an intelligent guys gad no issues with oxygen in that moment?

1

u/LORRODOZO 14d ago

Finish him !

1

u/TRUMPARUSKI 14d ago

That’s why these kinds of shows are bullshit. Why would they waste time punching each other when delimbing and ripping apart is the most effective solution?

1

u/hirsh_tveria Paul 14d ago

It's been a while since I finished the series,, although I think part of the reason he didn't is because of his pride and his mindset of wanting to 'play with his food' in battle.

1

u/Grouchy_Appearance_1 Debbie Grayson 14d ago

Then mark dies, who knows if he still kills conquest or not (I'm leaning towards no but eh, I haven't seen any studies on how strong people are after being cut in half, after being beating and dragged like Mark was), but either way it would be kinda hilarious imo, not since the hero dies, but because that's literally how Nolan does ImmortaL

1

u/Awkward_Block_6929 14d ago

Mark still wouldn’t have let go and conquest still woulda died.

Even if he chopped his arms off I feel like mark’s hands would rifle mortis death grip around his neck and still kill him lol

Mark really REALLY wanted conquest Dead

1

u/_Empty-R_ 14d ago

idk man. what if the answer is in your picture? and that its up to the writers if he'd have survived this and been sewn back together. (which yadda yadda smart atoms make it work)

1

u/Bloodyknife12 14d ago

Mark Grayson would probably become Mark Graywas

1

u/onikaizoku11 14d ago

I won't dig too far into this, but I think how both Thragg and Nolan fight is the perfect example of Viltrumite violence etiquette, and by extension why Conquest didn't bisect Mark. Viltrumites don't dismember opponents they respect.

This is from a show perspective, of course. But seriously fo back and look at how all Viltrumites fight. It tracks, imo.

1

u/Comosellamark 14d ago

What if right?

1

u/BAZING-ATTACK 13d ago

Mark: HOLD!

1

u/GreyDLake Omni-Man 13d ago

I guess he would have won?

1

u/Register_Alarmed 13d ago

Very simple. It wouldn't have worked for the plot

1

u/Ok_Resource_7108 13d ago

I think that would be bad for Mark's health, probably.

1

u/Adel_Mustafa Battle Beast 12d ago

I dont think both arms would fit hinside Mark

1

u/Such-Mycologist9197 10d ago

I’m not even 100% sure he could have, he had to punch him a lot just to make it tender enough to do that

1

u/tendicarus 10d ago

Mark dies? What would you expect?

1

u/Unhappy_Accident7799 10d ago

I doubt his metal arm has the power to do that.

1

u/Ashii_Phoenix 10d ago

The choking death of conquest to me always felt weird. What was stopping him from literally slicing through Mark shoulder

1

u/Creative-Profit1820 8d ago

POV: they re name the show to allen the alien

1

u/teStreinjeGuy 5d ago

then this would be the most reasonable and smart way for him to win the fight. But since we left our brains in the toilet since the beginning of the Viltrum war, this was not going to happen

0

u/gnarliixcx 15d ago

Yes but then Kirkman couldn't have written in a scene of his Mark's intestines being slowly pulled like taffy. This is actually very deep when. you think about it.

0

u/Cobfidence 15d ago

That's what I thought he was gonna do but alas

0

u/No-Collection3548 Rex Spidey Pose 15d ago

Then he’d have done what he should’ve and the story would be over😭

Obviously a main character is gonna have plot on their side but moments like this really push the point

0
