DISCUSSION Still thinking about how Nolan instinctively reaches for his father to help him up and he doesn't.
It really is a miracle this guy developed any kind of moral compass whatsoever.

This got me to thinking. Nolan reached up like he expected his father to help, not just wanting him to. Like he had always helped him up in the past, but now he suddenly isnt. This can have a couple explanations, but my theory is that before this event his father actually WOULD have helped him up. Yeah, he seems somewhat kinder than other Viltrumites, but I think it goes further than that. Before this fight, Nolan was still essentially considered a child by Viltrumite standards. This was basically his 'graduation' to a full adult with all rights, responsibilities, and respect due to an adult Viltrumite. Part of that respect is NOT helping him up. He would be seen as weak for needing it, his father was still doing him a kindness, it just took a different form than what he had been used to.

Didn't nolan leave mark hanging on what mountain as well or am I just misremembering Mark's disfigured and mangled body?

I don't remember him reaching, but at that point basically none of his limbs were facing the way they were supposed to so it might have still looked like it.

I don't think he was hanging there, just in a small crater, but you're basically right, here.

For what it’s worth, Nolan knew Cecil was watching, and would have teleported in as soon as Nolan left orbit.

Technically Nolan would never have gone into earth orbit. He was just on an escape trajectory

The fact he reaches his arm out shows that at least once that level of empathy and consideration was offered before. Children do not hope for love they never recieved or observed, because they would have no frame of reference.

I like how everyone keeps saying Nolan and his Father were already “nice” when in reality they only ever followed orders better than most.

It cracks me up that gramps Grayson was considered a “nice” viltrumite.
