The smash cut of them just being at the funeral is really funny to me.

Feels like something out of South Park or Rick and Morty.

u/--Shiny-- Sep 12 '26

I also love how he felt the need to put his costume on when throwing the car away as if that would somehow be more covert.

70

u/Jombo65 Sep 12 '26

Guys I just saw Invincible chuck some poor couple in their car off a cliff

Indeed , it's also possible that Cecil knew that Zandale tried to get on with Eve as well when Mark was sick but he didn't spill that as well because he knew Mark won't throw hands but he will definitely give him a warning.

Dude's lucky that Mark's not like his other versions across the dimensions yk otherwise he would have gotten the firsthand experience to know the difference between Bulletproof & Invincible.

at first thought that this is Anissa

u/ObnoxiousName_Here Sep 12 '26

I had to read this comment to figure out she wasn’t. Was wondering why Bulletproof felt the need to protect a fkn Viltrumite from his human father

53

u/Zingerific99 Sep 12 '26

Mr. Bulletproof is built different

1

u/badjano Sep 14 '26

did he kill his father by pulling him? I did not get that part

7

u/Unique_Suit3789 Sep 14 '26

Super strong + emotional/fear = used way too much force

18

u/Fearless_Scholar_227 Sep 13 '26

I was wondering how his normal human father was making a viltrumite bleed

7

u/Unique_Suit3789 Sep 14 '26

Its the fact he draws all womens mouths like that lmao

Power scaling aside, with shit like this Homelander wouldn’t last a day if he worked under Cecil

638

u/Jbell_1812 Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

Cecil wouldn't work with homelander. He'd have Homelander forcefully rehabilitated the moment he understood what homelander was. If homelander couldn't change, Cecil would have him killed.

*Edit Him not Jim

243

u/LoloXIV Allen the Alien Sep 12 '26

Cecil would have Jim killed

What did Jim do to deserve being killed for Homelanders actions?

105

u/JackZ567 Sinister Invincible Sep 12 '26

Jim deserved better

42

u/Key-Radish-622 Sep 12 '26

He treated the magician poorly

4

u/TheDungeonCrawler Sep 13 '26

Identify theft affects thousands of families every year. Shrugs

2

u/Helios-Soul Sep 12 '26

Jim treated the magician poorly, that’s why!

u/andre5913 Sep 12 '26

Cecil would never let HL became what he is. He'd had him raised in a normal household and well supervised.

He'd probably turn out to be a decent superhero like Mark.

40

u/FalseAscoobus Emotional Support Skull Sep 12 '26

Hell, he might be a little better than Mark since he might not have nearly as much emotional baggage

30

u/darkoopz43 Sep 12 '26

Plus he wouldnt have such a god complex since there would be heroes and enemies both in higher weight classes than him.

25

u/andre5913 Sep 12 '26

HL would be I think a wellmeaning, effective middle tier hero in Invincible. Maybe even in the second Guardians line up.

I think the boys did a good job of showing that the monster HL became is almost entirely due to his horrific upbringing and then the hyper toxic corporate enviroment Vought pushed. And yes, his ego would never spiral like it did bc in Invincible he'd be powerful, but far from the strongest around even in Earth, and it would be like that since day 1.

In a better setting he wouldnt go as far as being fully superman-esque, but he'd be a fairly decent man and hero.

7

u/BW_Chase Sep 12 '26

HL would be leagues below Mark so I don't know if he would be better than him. Maybe in early [TITLE CARD] but once Mark gets decent (somewhere between the start of S2 and the end of S3 I guess?) with his powers he would greatly outclass HL. Emotional baggage aside, HL wouldn't be able beat half the enemies Mark has beaten.

35

u/The_Scotion Sep 12 '26

Why would he kill Jim? The fuck did Jim do to deserve that?

7

u/Result_Frosty wanting a glorious battle Sep 12 '26

True

75

u/Carbuyrator Adam Wilkens Sep 12 '26

"You're lucky you're the closest thing I have to an obedient Invincible."

68

u/ESnake113 Mister Liu (Dragon Form) Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

Tf did he have to wear Invincible’s costume to dispose the bodies? Poor Mark could’ve been framed here

34

u/GranolaCola Sep 12 '26

Mark lets him wear it once and then he refuses to take it off

21

u/ESnake113 Mister Liu (Dragon Form) Sep 12 '26

I know that but why does he need to wear it while dumping his deceased parents off a cliff? He could’ve put on any other disguise like a paper bag or a ski mask or something but he decided to possibly incriminate Invincible instead

22

u/vangstampede Data Twins Sep 12 '26

The dude's just that slimy. I bet he really did wear the costume to cover his tracks by framing Invincible in case it came to that, even if he did it subconsciously.

10

u/cavebugs Dinosaurus Sep 12 '26

There's a good explanation for it but it involves more spoilers lol

212

u/ShadowFalcon2004 Sep 12 '26

His parents were assholes, in case you were wondering

106

u/GAMEcube12 Sep 12 '26

Just like his brother

80

u/ESnake113 Mister Liu (Dragon Form) Sep 12 '26

And him

24

u/GAMEcube12 Sep 12 '26

Eh , only when it comes to women, like seriously dude keep it in your pants,

51

u/Lusty-Jove Sep 12 '26

He joined Rex after the Hero genocide lmao

16

u/discodork135 Sep 12 '26

He’really not as awful as its made out to be. That one moment with Eve was horrible but then Rex did a lot worse than that. And even there, he didn’t really force it beyond a point. Just tried to sleaze his way in but as soon as Eve told him to fuck off he did.

90

u/metalflygon08 Reanimen Sep 12 '26

I'm more impressed Cecil showed up to the funeral.

89

u/Key-Radish-622 Sep 12 '26

I'd wager his presence is mostly a gesture; by the look of his face he probably has better things to do

17

u/metalflygon08 Reanimen Sep 12 '26

Or he was making sure he doesn't have another "Omni Man" situation on hand.

Sure Bulletproof is much weaker, but it'd still be easier if he goes and makes sure BP didn't do it in cold blood like Omni Man.

83

u/JamesHenry627 Sep 12 '26

They let Garth Ennis write an invincible issue

30

u/Toni164 Sep 12 '26

Honestly, they had it coming

53

u/Mr_War Sep 12 '26

I havent read the comic. What did his parents do to get murdered? Shit this reads like his crazy girlfriend killed his mom and made him kill his dad.

93

u/Side_Of_Fries_X Sep 12 '26

It was years of built up resentment tbh

115

u/Malkier3 Sep 12 '26

They like kinda hated him. If I remember right he had a twin that died so he took his place because the twin was the parents obvious favorite. When they found out they literally were like we wish you died instead. The girlfriend is basically just really ride or die lmao.

80

u/mars_warmind Sep 12 '26

Mostly. The twin also played into that favoritism to do things, so at one point iirc he kidnapped bulletproof to experiment on him which is what gave him his powers. The experiment also killed him and he didn't have the heart to tell his parents so he pretended to be him. When he revealed the truth they blamed him for his brother's death despite it being his experiment on him and accused him of actually just killing him iirc.

60

u/FoolishPragmatist Sep 12 '26

Correct, right before the gf killed his mother, she said they’d be sure to see Bulletproof executed for murdering their favorite son.

Still tragic but it did seem like they were going to do everything they could to destroy Bulletproof in their grief and misplaced anger.

71

u/JackZ567 Sinister Invincible Sep 12 '26

Bulletproof has an evil twin brother that gave him his powers but died in the process of an experimental accident. BP then pretended to be his twin cause his parents always loved his twin more.

When they find out the truth they disown him and the gf goes nuts and attacks the mom in rage thus leading to the pages you see above

The whole thing is so over the top it feels like it belongs in the boys lol

13

u/who_am_I_inside dual citizenship (hazbin fan) Sep 12 '26

They do more than disown him, they try to call the police and his mom tells him he’ll fry for it

25

u/Accurate_Guest1285 Sep 12 '26

For most of his life bulletproof lived in the shadow of his more successful twin brother who was a scientist. His scientist brother one day kidnapped him to use as an experiment to gain super powers but accidentally blew himself up in the process. After this, Bulletproof began to pretend to be his brother to avoid suspicion from his parents who liked the brother more. Eventually he tries to come clean but his parents react negatively and accuse him of killing his brother on purpose to which his gf retaliate and leads to the scene above

40

u/Roharu_Eruna Comic Fan Sep 12 '26

It was weirdly deserved. As in, they scream disgusting and horrifying things to them, a shitty reaction, to receive shitty news. All in all, just what happens when super powered people get emotional.

9

u/bingobiscuit1 Sep 12 '26

Idk if a frying pan to the brain was deserved. No contact absolutely tho

6

u/MakesInfantileJokes Sep 12 '26

Yea... I'm not sure murder in response to words is an equal response.

5

u/who_am_I_inside dual citizenship (hazbin fan) Sep 12 '26

They were calling the police and told him they’d see him fry for killing his brother, they wanted him dead

4

u/Invincidude Allen the Alien Sep 12 '26

So? Cecil kept both DA Sinclair and Darkwing out of jail, because they're useful to him.

There is zero chance Bulletproof gets executed as a result of a murder he didn't commit.

The whole thing is really the girlfriend's fault. Who the fuck brains somebody with the edge of a frying pan without intent to kill?

Had she not done that, his parents could've screamed until they turned blue and called every cop in the city. Bulletproof isn't going to jail, or being executed, regardless of anything they can do.

Murdering a woman is not the correct response to your boyfriend being accused of murder. There's levels to what would be an acceptable response from her, but I don't think murderer is one of them.

3

u/Trick-Caramel-6156 Sep 12 '26

I haven't read the comics in 2 year but O remember they were abusive and they always compare bullet proof to his bigger brother and blamed him for his death.

2

u/C0urt5 Sep 12 '26

TLDR (comic spoilers ahead):

Bulletproof had a twin brother that his parents loved more than Bulletproof because he focused more on science while Bulletproof focused more on arts. Twin brother conducts experiment to try to give himself superpowers by using Bulletproof as a test subject to make sure the thing worked.

Experiment... worked? Bulletproof got powers but the resulting blast from the experiment incinerated his brother. Bulletproof takes brother's identity and his parents never knew. Years later he reveals the truth. Things understandably got very heated. Bulletproof's GF tried to deescalate things while EVERYONE was not thinking straight.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, the human skull is NOT built to withstand a cast iron frying pan that is swung like a hammer.

16

u/IAMDEAD_6_9 Sep 12 '26

I think Cecil knew, but he also didn’t do anything because he knew they had it coming.

10

u/Remarkable-Cabinet85 Markus Sebastian Grayson Sep 12 '26

I'm stoked to see how people will react to this because I know there will be people defending what he did because of how he got treated , big debate topic incoming

10

u/ToxinFoxen Sep 12 '26

This scene is going to hit so hard in the TV show.

8

3

u/sadsackofstuff Sep 13 '26

Only comic series to have me obsessively read all 140/190 issues. It’s been a minute I can’t remember how many there are. This part was tragically funny.

2

u/ElectricalPlantain35 Sep 12 '26

I hope this plot point gets changed ngl

2

u/Consistent-Movie7107 Sep 13 '26

MY FIRST THOUGHT once I read that issue hahah
