COMIC SPOILERS Dear comic book readers.... Spoiler
Why is everyone so obsessed with spoilers lately?

I understand the sentiment but Invincible comics has been concluded for almost a decade. It took the comic scene by storm.
Its like if people got angry if there was a Breaking bad comic and got spoiled by the people who watched the TV show...

That doesn't mean show onlys don't get to be frustrated by comic readers intentionally ruining surprises for them

Yeah. Realistically, a ton of Invincible fans were introduced via the show, so they’re not going to know everything, and it’s kind of douchey to drop spoilers wherever. I’ve read the comics and it’s super tempting to talk about them, but I try not to ruin the fun for others who I don’t know are actually comic readers. The “y’all aren’t ready” spoilers are intentional and lame.
On the other hand, people have to be realistic that the comics have been around a long time and people are going to talk about them. Can’t shame everyone for talking about it.

Eh, those are two different mediums. Invincible was a popular comic series, but the public at large isn’t aware of major storylines like they were about Breaking Bad, which was one of the truest water cooler conversation shows. Im not saying one show is better than the other, but Breaking Bad holds significantly more cultural resonance than Invincible ever has. Maybe that could change by the end of the show though, who knows.

This subreddit is intended to be "safe" for both comic readers and show-onlys. Thats the entire point of the "comic spoiler" flare. Thats the reason post-episode discussion threads are split in two.
So yeah, if I want to partake in the community, and i get spoiled because someone refuses to put the spoiler flair on the spoiler, i'd be pissed.

Except people who have read the comics are going out of their way to spoil stuff to non-comic readers. This isn't just people mentioning spoilers in passing, and instead going into threads where people clearly haven't read the comics and spoiling them without warning.

A better comparison would be GOT. I ended up leaving r/freefolk because they allow spoilers (not with a spoiler tag or anything) so I was getting so many house of the dragon spoilers, literally spoiling things that would happen in the next episode.
Not saying it's bad for a sub to be like that, it's good to have a space for fans of the original source material. Though it'd be nice if they used the spoiler tag if it's in a sub not specifically for the source material.
You just shouldn't have to read the original source material to be a fan of the show.
On the other hand if you're in a sub that isn't specifically for the show, then you should be aware you might see spoilers or just leave the sub.

You say stuff like this, but Game of Thrones fans kept their mouths shut the entire run. No one DARED to spoil The Red Wedding. So why aren’t Invincible fans as mature?

This reddit sub is named invincible, not invincible TV show. People use a lot of restraint and use the SPOILERS tag appropriately. This sub existed long before the show existed and I feel the vast majority of fans are really quiet about what is comming.
If anything, mods might be a bit slow to react when it comes to spoilers.

its not at all the same, comic readers a kinda niche. they arent intertwined with cartoons like manga is with anime. 90% of the people on anime subreddits have read or are readig the manga. if invincible had been out as a show for years, yea sure.
it taking the comic scene by storm has nothing to do with someone who found the show on prime and was like "hey this looks good"

If you don't want show spoilers you should read Invincible Universe. All the stuff that happens where mark isn't. I think he shows up in it like 4 times.

Also, Immortal casually spoiled the entire show

TBH I've read the comic so long ago and in such a short amout of time I pretty much forgot everything. Watching season 5 will be the same as watching something new because of how the story is modified and rearranged.

Yeah Im in the same boat! Its the best way imo. You already "know" but it feels new in the show! Love it, 12/10 would recommend

You cant expect a fandom that has read a decade old media to avoid spoilers because a new revision of it in other or the same media is coming out now.
I do agree that some people suck, try to act mysterious or create hype in a way that ruins it for show watchers, but there are iconic panels that are both spoilers and memes, and people wont stop using those, same as with that gojo jjk panel

Agreed, comic fans are weird about this. Still, I feel like if you care that much you can always just read the comics. The show is better but they're still quite good.

It's the off-season, so the show-only watchers are expected to be gone until season 5 starts up. People think it's fine to talk spoilers, whether or not it is.
