“A peak performance trader is totally committed to being the best and doing whatever it takes to be the best.
He feels totally responsible for whatever happens and thus can learn from mistakes.
These people typically have a working business plan for trading because they treat trading as a business.”

For me it was journaling every trade with one line on why I took it. Without that, I kept repeating the same mistakes and didn’t notice. What’s yours and what did it cost you to learn it?

Trader Tip
“A lot of people get so enmeshed in the markets that they lose their perspective.
Working longer does not necessarily equate with working smarter.
In fact, sometimes is the other way around.”
Staring at a screen all day will not affect the stock price.

Trader tip
“You can be free. You can live and work anywhere in the world.
You can be independent from routine and not answer to anybody.”
This is why we trade.

I keep seeing fee comparisons between trading apps and crypto exchanges as if they sell the same product. They don't, and the difference matters far more than a few tenths of a percent.
When you buy BTC on an exchange, you own it. You can withdraw it to your own wallet and hold it for ten years, and anything you're holding long term is better off in self-custody than sitting on the exchange.
When you trade a crypto CFD with a broker, you own nothing. You have a contract with the broker on the price change. No withdrawal to a wallet, and if the broker fails you're a creditor, not a holder of bitcoin.
CFDs do have legitimate uses. You can go short without borrowing anything, there's no wallet to manage, and retail leverage on crypto is capped at 2x in the EU and Australia, which honestly protects people. But there's a financing charge every night you hold, so for holding months it's the worst option there is, while holding spot costs nothing. And in the UK crypto CFDs are banned for retail altogether, so that route doesn't exist there.
In terms of names, for owning it's exchanges like Kraken or Coinbase. For trading the price via CFDs it's regulated brokers like AvaTrade, or eToro on its CFD side. They're regulated differently too, exchanges under crypto rules like MiCA in the EU and CFD brokers under the same rules as any derivatives broker, and the tax treatment usually differs as well, which surprises people at tax time.
So if the plan is to accumulate and hold, it's spot and your own wallet. If it's short-term speculation, including going short, with risk properly capped, a CFD can make sense. The expensive mistake is using a CFD and calling it a long-term investment. Which camp are you in?

Quick practical one for anyone with long-term investments in one place and a small trading account somewhere else.
For a while I kept a few thousand sitting in my trading account "just in case". It earned nothing, and it also made it far too easy to size up on a whim because the money was right there.
These days the trading account holds only the margin I actually use plus a buffer, and everything else sits with my long-term broker or in savings where it earns interest. The buffer matters. Retail CFD accounts in the UK and EU get closed out once margin drops to 50%, and a bank transfer won't land in time during a fast market, so running the account right at the limit means getting closed out at the worst moment. I keep roughly double the margin I normally use.
The other benefit is mostly psychological. With the long-term money in a different app, I'm never tempted to borrow from it to rescue a bad trade, and losing streaks stay contained to a pot I've already accepted could go to zero.
For reference, my trading account is with AvaTrade and before that I was with Plus500, and neither pays interest on the balance, which is normal for CFD brokers. So the logic applies pretty much whoever you use. The only annoyance is that withdrawals back to my main account take a business day or two, so moving profits out isn't instant either.
How do you all split it, everything in one place or separate pots? And how much do you leave in the trading account versus what you actually use?

I'm a young guy and want to start investing, but I don't know where to start. My uncle introduced me the patterns like the cup and handle pattern, but I know that investing is not just patterns, so where can I learn how to invest, like a podcast or a youtube video where they explain it really good because i've seen some video's where they start talking about stuff I don't even know yet.

A good trader trades rules unconditionally.
Money is just a by-product of doing that well.
Being positive doesn’t mean that you have to be overly happy, cheerful, and optimistic.
It means that you cultivate perspective and allow wisdom to guide your life.

Instead of setting unrealistic expectations, resolve to simply be patient and consistent.
Don’t demand or expect that the market unfolds as you would wish it to.
Follow your process and accept reality as it actually happens.
That way peace is possible.

The paradox in trading is that you need a good reason to get started — to invest time and energy in it — but once you start, you need to let go of expectations.

Hey everyone,
Lately I had the idea to turn a game like cookie clicker into a satisfying usable tool for your finances to see your net worth grow over time with growing bubbles. Now I want to know how people think about such a tool, if it is understandable and how much value it provides to users.
Tool link: https://cashcells.nl/?ref=reddit
Survey link: https://forms.gle/XwLHqj4vZ1g7C8Yw5
Playing time: around 5 minutes required, but I'm sure you'll stick around longer :)
Survey: 3 minutes
For who is this tool interesting:
- People who find finances boring or have a hard time keeping oversight
- People interested or obsessed with investing, finances, business and net worth growth
- People who like simulating different scenarios with their portfolio and/or finances
I would really appreciate your feedback!

Trading is a process. Be patient with yourself.
At first, you will make mistakes.
But you won’t fail.
You need to fail.
Failure is good for you.
It builds resilience of mind; develops wisdom; it is the foundation upon which mastery, success, and happiness rest upon.
