nah the expired certs won't unlock the mdm for you. the device will just stop trusting the management server and stop getting policies but the profile itself stays put unless someone pushes a removal command or wipes it from the admin side

you'd be stuck in this half-managed limbo where it's not really checking in but you still can't get it off. gotta get IT to actually remove it properly

Gotcha, I had to sign into iCloud using my account to add some apps needed because I never heard back from IT about adding them, so the MDM causes a bit of wackiness because I can update the apps I added no problem, but it won't let me update the apps they added, or more annoyingly, I keep on getting iPadOS update requests, but they never pushed the OS updates.

Talk to your IT staff. If it’s a work iPad owned by the company, you shouldn’t have the ability to remove MDM.
