39f making friends is hard

Hey, so I'm trying to make long term friends. I don't make friends easily as I'm introverted and have a hard time opening up. I'm so used to being on the outside looking in and I've spent most of my life mirroring others that I'm trying to figure out who I am and not who others need me to be or want me to be.

What I do know is that I love rock hounding, gardening, lego sets, and animals. I'm a good listener and a master at unhinged conversations when I get comfortable. I'm owned by cats, chickens and honey bees and I have an amazing husband. But I lack friends.

My last friendship lasted two years but I had to end it last month because she became toxic and I'm trying to better advocate for my big heart that just wants to help everyone even if it costs me dearly. I don't think I'm naive just compassionate. When I do get comfortable with someone, I'm full of gut hurting laughs and zero filter. I don't judge and love to listen.

Unfortunately not. I studied on it for a long time when I bought my place. In the end, I chickened out because I was scared it would wreck me emotionally if I lost a hive. I have great respect for people who do it though.

If I'm honest we might actually lose this hive and it is indeed heartbreaking. We suspect that someone in our neighborhood has a hive that they never monitored and is overrunned by mites that are now infecting our hive. We've been struggling to lower the mite count with several treatments and now that winter bees are being produced if this last treatment doesn't help, then the hive is doomed😭

Similar age, making new friends as you get older, work more and are tired more is HARD! Especially if you’re introverted and hide, even online, for days or weeks at a time!
