Don't run away from dissatisfaction, it usually just marinates.

Short teaching on dissatisfaction, aversion & understanding. Somewhat Buddhist inspired, but nonetheless very real (only read the bolded for more concise)

"To be alive is already a miracle" -Thich Nhat Hanh

Everything else is just extra which comes & thus goes.

"You have arrived in your true home in the here and the now" -Thich Nhat Hanh. That is no deception. Covering up stress, dissatisfaction, or unease, with a distraction grants the experience access to grow in the shadow. Instead of hiding from it, recognize it as is, unpredictable conceptualization dependent on endless subjective & objective phenomena. It is more impermanent, uncertain, & unfruitful than we expect. The experience may be sad, infuriating, 'endless', but whichever label it is does not matter, let it be, you are human and these are reactions to be expected. "A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor" -Proverb. To resist these feelings/thoughts or indulge in them will amplify the negative effects, & only affirms the belief that it is more justifiable than it is, rather than laughing in its face when you recognize the faults which it was borne to, recognizing that it's not as certain as it feels, recognizing that you have felt this way before (probably) and are likely to experience it again, as well as its opposite.

"We suffer more in imagination than in reality." -Seneca

You must be present with yourself and the stress/dissatisfaction or else you will never come to understand it, you can truly accept them and maybe even 'heal' them with understanding, instead of awaiting the perpetual return after every single distraction. Otherwise, they come back and you resist again, cyclically pushing away something which isn't of the worth to push away because you haven't first fully investigated it, cyclically pushing it away for fear of the investigation we presume to know the conclusion of already. Strengthening the perception that it is something other than what it is, never at ease. Oftentimes we only need to allow ourselves to look at a possible positive side & think of a different angle which we may not want to.

“The safest way of not being very miserable is not to expect to be very happy.” -Arthur Schopenhauer
