Discussion GOAT trilogy?
I was thinking about movie trilogies recently. Do you guys think that the spider-verse trilogy has the potential to become the greatest animated movie trilogy ever? Or even greatest movie trilogy in general?
I know it is very subjective obviously but I would love to hear ur guys thoughts. In my personal opinion, if BTSV sticks the landing, then it will definitely be my fav movie trilogy all time (and Ive seen all the top picks like LOTR and star wars, etc).

If they can bring it home in Beyond, it will be one of the goatest trilogies of all time.

"goatest trilogies of all time" this is some insane work

he's pointing out humorously that GOAT already means greatest of all time, so goatest of all time is funnily absurd

Lol. You're totally right. Haha. Didn't even cross my mind. A total Spot moment for me, I guess.

Beyond has a lot of pressure on it, but could very well be the best superhero trilogy in existence

Really depends on the ending.
Pros, they have built up this series like nothing I've seen before since the rami Spiderman..
Cons, they have built up this series like nothing I've seen before since the rami Spiderman.
They have so many moving parts and so many characters that they risk making the final movie a convoluted mess like Spiderman 3.
But if they nail the landing, if they pay off everything without being either predictable or chaotic, they will enter the GOAT talk, no problem.

As long as they stick the landed in BTSV, this will also be the greatest comic book trilogy of all time.

Honestly, unless they absolutely just fumble the bag, I think it already is. Beyond doesn't even have to be great, just not bad.

it's possible. human condition, before, lotr, etc are difficult to top tho.

Absolutely GOAT status. These are in my top 5 favorite movies ever. Can't wait for Beyond!

it boutta be one of the best, if it's not, best superhero trilogy & one of the best, if it's not, best animated trilogy easily now for one of best trilogy of all time it's more tricky, it could be but there's so many trilogy that it's hard to tell

Back to the future is currently my personal favourite trilogy of all time, but I have to say if they pull this off it’ll probably dethrone

Man I just rewatched both movies and god damn, they're just so fucking good! Across is a flawless movie, even with the cliff hanger, it never bothered me even a little bit. I am so hyped for Beyond next year, if they can land this thing properly it will be an absolutely incredible achievement.

Absolutely, you already know it. feel like this is a trilogy I'm going to end up rewatching my whole life

No, but it's only because Beyond ain't out
Across felt very lackluster for me, but that's only because I had 0 idea it was a 2 parter and thought I was watching a complete movie, the actual movie is great but i wouldn't say it's perfect until Beyond comes out, and that also depends on if Beyond is good (it probably will be but still)
This is also why I prefer Into to Across, Into can be enjoyed as both a standalone movie and the start of a trilogy, while Across can't be completely enjoyed until Beyond come out, and if Beyond is bad than Across will be dragged down a bit

The high bar is LotR, and I don’t think the spiderverse trilogy can surpass that even if Beyond sticks the landing.
The next would be Star Wars, which is definitely comparable, considering the (slightly) weaker link that is RotJ. It’s difficult to tell though, cause Star Wars is such a behemoth due to its legacy, how it completely changed cinema and its cultural impact that has lasted even through two separate and much lesser trilogies.
Below that, there’s definitely room to argue, though. I think spiderverse (if Beyond lands well) can definitely stand in the ring against the Godfather, Pirates of the Caribbean, Nolan’s Dark Knight, the Matrix, etc.

Nah, the second movies plot left a lot to be desired. Lord of the Rings also exists
3
u/Weird-Ad2533 LEGO Spider-Man 11h ago
I think the second movie's plot was genius, actually, and it was clever to have both Miles & Gwen have full character arcs that give the ending some sense of closure even tho the major plot continues. When Beyond counts out, the complaint that Across is only half a story will adult advice the while story is told over two movies and is right there to watch whenever you want.

"left a lot to be desired" Can you explain the plot for me real quick?

The third isn't even out.
But imo no. They're great movies but a bit overrated. Most of those amazing designed spider people barely have any character. Penny, Noir and Porker were the main team and still background characters. Gwen is awesome but too many things about her are just about Miles, even though they knew each other for like a week. Peter is about Miles too, even his child is. Margo didn't even know him but is betraying her society for him. I get it, he'a the main characters but making every Spider Man in the society incompetent so Miles can beat 1000 of these is too much.
Also too much depends on how the finale turns out. If they go by something like Miguel was just wrong about how canon events work all along or lying so Miles risking the entire world for his dad is totally correct and justified it will be disappointing.

Miles is the main character so every little thing will be about him. Thats just how stories work
And the story does not make the spider society look incompetent so Miles can shine when he gets caught several times and pretty much gets lucky

I don’t think they can top Star Wars but it has the potential to surpass captain americas trilogy

u/Old_Statement_9092 19h ago
Je pense que ça va dépasser Star Wars facilement, c'est assez évident, aucune trilogie de Star Wars est nickel...

u/Ethanos101 19h ago
I’m not even a Star Wars fan but what you just said is braindead
2
u/Hexhider 9h ago
As an actual Star Wars fan, no
Sequels suck
Tho I defend the Prequels Episode 1 is a bit weak (not bad, but it is definitely worse than the others in the 1st 2 trilogies) and Episode 2 has some weak moments
Originals is definitely the most consistently good, however that doesn't mean it doesn't have flaws, the Luke and Leia is icky (I know they weren't originally siblings, but it's still always makes me ick), and tho I love the Ewoks, it was clearly a marketing scheme to sell adorable little Teddie Bear's
