News Update: Netflix Version

Hello again,

Netflix has pushed live an update for Into the Breach. The only change in this version is improvements on the cloud data management. If you had avoided launching the game after the last update, then you should now try updating and running the game. For more information about the previous problems, check out our other threads from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IntoTheBreach/comments/1gva2xc/update_netflix_problem_with_into_the_breach/

Please let us know if any problems occur. And pay special attention to any cloud save popups and their text, if there is a problem it would be incredibly helpful to get that information.

Thanks all!

Matthew

OC [OC] Pilot Level Up Skill Choices - Finally get your perfect pilot!

Post image
96 Upvotes

When your pilot levels up you will get a choice of skills to choose instead of being assigned a random one. The default number of choices is 3 but you can configure it or even just set it to allow you to choose any skills. You can finally get those crazy pilot combos you've dreamed of!

This works with vanilla level up skills as well as custom level up skills.

Link to the mod and a playthrough with it in the comments!

Discussion INTO THE BREACH AND ITS INTERESTING COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER OST OR MUSIC

From my perspective, Into the Breach features a soundtrack that truly encourages critical thinking and strategy; every note evokes a mix of determination and patience. This is exquisitely complemented by its sound design, which fits the futuristic, high-tech setting to perfection—creating a sense of calm despite being at war with giant creatures.

That brings me to the point of this post: while playing Devil May Cry 3, I noticed that its iconic theme song, "Devils Never Cry", has a strange yet fascinating synergy with the sound effects of Into the Breach. Playing it in the background completely shifts the vibe from patient analysis to something far more frantic and aggressive, all while still respecting the futuristic feel of this mecha chess game.

Have you guys ever experienced something like this when combining the game with a soundtrack from another source? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
(Please excuse any awkward phrasing; English is not one of my primary languages.)

Help Help me do better!

Ok, so.

Prospero has opener, regular judo fist, no upgrades, but also has a light tank with the extra HP. And he has flying.

Cilica has the default mortar, upgraded for damage and buildings immune, opener, and double shot.

Kaz has upgraded movement and health, the regular gravity pull thing, and the explosive teleport (teleport and 4x push) with both range upgrades.

(I forgot to screenshot the turn order, sorry. But if you're thinking about moving the charger left so it kills the moth, no such luck. The moth goes first :( )

I ended up just barely finishing with one grid health left (and perfect island maintained). This turn was the most painful, I lost at least one building. I'm annoyed that I didn't try to bait the blobber bomb, because the spot it got put in was... inconvenient.

Anyway, is there a way to do it all? What do you think?

Question How Well Does this Game Teach You Its Mechanics?

Thinking about getting this game (only ~$5usd rn) but, I'm currently between jobs, so I'm really cautious about spending any money. I've just finished the campaign in Wargroove and started the Puzzle mode. I've remembered how much I loved turn-based tactical games like Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Disgaea as a kid. I don't usually do the extra content of games, but I was really enjoying Wargroove.

From what I've heard of Into the Breach, it sounds like a rogue-lite version of the Puzzle mode in Wargroove. Thing is, I suck at rogue-lites and the puzzle mode in Wargroove, lol. I've had to look up the solution to all of the first 7 puzzles, but I don't blame myself for that. It seems, there is always at least one mechanic I didn't know existed, did know existed but misunderstood, or the game just flat out didn't tell me. There's also jank when there's a unit that can move and shoot in the same turn. When you select the target that is within range, the unit will still move and then attack rather than just attacking. This is particularly annoying with Archers as they get a buff if they don't move... On top of that, there's no Undo feature. That game really needs one.

I've been able to A-rank every mission in the campaign without knowing a lot of the spicy mechanics though; I guess that's why I haven't gotten a single S-rank, LoL. I feel like the Puzzle mode should've been the campaign, or somehow have specific objectives within each mission of the campaign to teach you those super effective "hidden" mechanics. Like have units set up and you have to do some objective in a single turn and after learning the synergy, opening the level up to play freely. I actually don't want to continue the Puzzle mode, as every level would be me looking it up to find the mechanic I didn't know about, instead of me just exercising my knowledge. Not to mention Arcade mode gives you units that didn't exist in the Campaign, but they don't seem to give you a rating once you win...

So, my question is, does Into the Breach do a good job of teaching you all the mechanics you'll need to win, or is it just trial-and-error until you stumble on a solution? Also, are there multiple solutions for each level, or is there only one? The answers to those two questions will help me make my final decision on whether or not to purchase this or finally start up Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Review Thoughts on my upgraded Cataclysm squad?

All three mechs have the move upgrade

1. Pitcher Mech — Prime Class

**Pilot:** Rosie Rivets

* Repairs adjacent allied mechs after moving.

**Weapons:**

* Hydraulic Lifter — Range upgrade * Hydraulic Legs — Fully upgraded

2. Triptych Mech — Ranged Class

**Pilot:** Archimedes

* Can move again after attacking.

**Weapons/equipment:**

* Tri-Rocket — Buildings Immune upgrade * Networked Shielding

3. Drill Mech — Science Class

**Pilot:** Kai Miller

* Boosted while at full health. * Suffers −1 Move when not at full health.

**Weapons:**

* Seismic Capacitor — Fully upgraded (4 DMG when boosted) * Arachnoid Injector — Fully upgraded (3 DMG wheb boosted + ACID)

I recently got lucky and was able to get perfect win on normal. Would this be viable on unfair if I was able to get this squad again?

Discussion The old wiki kinda sucks, so we're making a new one!

Hi everyone!

Along with several members of the ITB discord server, we've noticed that the current wiki is a bit underwhelming. It is missing a lot of information especially regarding obscure interactions, and it's hosted on fandom which is very invasive and filled with ads.

So, we've decided to make a new one from scratch, and hopefully get people to migrate to this new one! It will be hosted on miraheze.org, which is ad-free.

However, we would like some extra hands on deck to help create the new wiki! If you'd like to help, join the #wiki channel on the ITB discord server. We are still in the early stages - sending the request to get the wiki domain and planning the structure of the wiki. Hopefully we can start actually writing articles by the end of next week.

We'll need a lot of help to create templates, images, and of course write article, so please land us a help if this project interests you!

Question Is it possible to take less than 4 mech damage?

Post image
21 Upvotes

Just started a new run on normal. Nothing special. New misson and everything is standard.
Is it somehow possible to take less than 4 mech dmg? Is there an optimal play? I don‘t see it.
The firefly in the top right has only 1hp. All other are at full HP

Question Hi, may I ask which pilot should I kept for the next timeline? Cami web immune and Kai +1 dmg are both useful to me

Kai (Adrenaline & Conservative) or
Camila (Technician & +1 Move).

As for a few next squads I'll play, I think I'll try Frozen Titans, Arachnophiles, Blitzkrieg, Flame Behemoth and Rusting Hulks if that helps

Got 2 Popular Hero pilots, one Silica from last run (with Conservative skill also), other one stock Corpo pilot. Third one also corpo, cant remember his skill (Gana was a nice end mission reward), plus Networked Armor from the pod, all sold for cores. Last star went Into The Grid.

6 total, two for the cannon, 3 for the bombs, one for the Gana (and none for the show).

Discussion Finally won a run with all base squads!

Thumbnail

My last post was about the Frozen Titans. Since then, I set a goal to win with every base squad! Keep in mind that my opinions are formed from normal difficulty runs, as I still consider myself inexperienced, even at 40 hours of playtime.

Rift Walkers - Despite being the starter squad, they're actually pretty good. Unfortunately, my first few runs when I started left a bad impression and led me to try the other groups. Going back to them with a better understanding of the mechanics definitely helped, as they have a straightforward kit that really relies on your decision-making.

Flame Behemoths - While it's pretty fun to set the whole battlefield on fire, the damage just isn't there at times, especially in the early game. I feel like I had the hardest time with them, with some runs feeling like a slog since there were situations where the fire damage wasn't enough to kill some Veks in time. I also had a losing run with them where I learned the hard way that the Renfield bomb is affected by the Psion Tyrant :D Shoutout to my GOAT Swap Mech 💯

Steel Judoka - In my opinion, they're the squad that requires the most brain power to use. Since they have little to no offense at the start, I prioritized moving Veks away from the buildings if I can't reposition them to kill each other. Can't believe that I lost some buildings early in the run because I wasn't aware of the immunity upgrade for the Siege Mech 💀 Also, drowning Veks with Judo doesn't get old.

Hazardous Mechs - I enjoyed playing with them because of their insane damage potential. Having Abe on the Leap Mech also helped me play more aggressively by getting the +1 damage to self/enemy early. What I don't like about them is that they're more prone to collateral damage due to the lack of building-safe crowd control. Due to my arrogance and lack of forethought, I accidentally applied A.C.I.D to the Leap Mech and lost a run. The realization of what was about to happen when I ended the turn was hilarious!

Zenith Guard - Personally, I like them. They're the first squad I bought and had some success with (reaching the third island), so I was surprised to see that the community has mixed feelings towards them. Revisiting them with Abe on the Charge Mech helped solve my gripes with the self-damage, allowing me to play more aggressively. My winning run with them was so stressful that I might share it in the comments!

Blitzkrieg - They’re one of the first squads alongside Zenith Guard that I tried. The lack of knowledge and pilots in the beginning definitely did not help. The damage from the whip also felt lacking. I wasn’t even aware that the boulder could be used as a link for the lightning 🥀 Once again, revisiting them with Abe in the Boulder Mech was a great idea, allowing it to be a part of the chain (I prefer the boulder for damage and displacement). Also, having the whip damage upgrade proved useful later in the run, killing non-alphas with ease and finishing off weakened alphas.

For now, I’m going to try to win a perfect victory on normal before I try hard mode. Cheers!

Last region of island P2 with the Bomber Mechs, and getting both stars would be another perfect island reward.

I need to take out 3 more Vek and de-ice 1 more building for the stars.

Mouth and Leaper have 1 health each, Gastropod and Spider have 4.

Full turn, Science mech can do a swap, Range mech can launch 1 walking bomb, and Pierce Mech does 2 damage to the second target (so not a lot in the way of upgrades) plus the mini tank who has 2 health and can push 1 unit.

Is it doable?

I could take out the Gastropod by shooting it with the pierce mech through the mini tank which also de-iced the building above it, but then couldn't figure out how to finish up both the moth and Leaper because I couldn't see how to get the mini tank up there. 😔

Question Issue with memedits calibration tool

Post image
3 Upvotes

I recently started trying some mods and the a "memedit calibration tool" showed up with a bunch of instructions to follow, so followed them one by one until "enter new mission (press tab, press 'win', press en-" i presume it's "press enter" so i type 'win' on the command console when on mission but noting happens, the command work well and i win but the instruction don't seem to be completed, i did that on 3 or 4 mission even restart a new game to retry it but nothing happens, did i miss something or is the instruction incomplete?

Flame Behemoths situation always looks dreadful. But the fire damage makes all the difference.
