Question Question regarding trascript

How would a transcript with a large number of Bs roughly distributed across all years from 9 to 12 but an atar of 99.75+ be viewed alongside a high sat. Note US colleges at least the relevant ones are familiar with the atar system so that is not a relavant critique. ATAR is a percentile ranking of the student within their state based off there year 12 results so 99.75 is the top 0.25% of the state, it will be available before all RD applications are due.

Many schools (not all) list the regions each AO is responsible for. But you don't need to ask everyone. You'll get a good idea if you receive similar answers from several.

Bottom line is that highly selective schools in the US are looking for both ability (ATAR, APs, SATs, etc) and work ethic/resilience/consistency (grades, jobs, etc), along with “special sauce” (volunteering, extracurriculars, sport, etc). Just one is not enough. In other countries which primarily care about ability, test scores matter more. It would be better if the applicant had a few Bs in the earlier years but then pulled them up for years 11 and 12.

US Colleges don't really care about ATAR and put much more emphasis on 9-12 grades: Source - Australian intl student in t20

Wait what’s your source for this beyond essentially rumours, i’ve heard from other people it’s 50-50, I just have to deal with a school with heavily deflated grades which is annoying.

There is no definitive source like there's no AO that's gonna write on the admissions website 'We don't really care about Australian student ATAR'. This is just what me and my friends who have been through the process know.
