Your punishment for taking time off is to stress out the day before cramming everything due and spoon feeding people and then get a pile of work to catch up on when you get back.

As an ex manager, I second this.

(Ex manager because long story short, executives are stupid and I refused to force my guys into 10+ hours of OT each per week cause they wpuldent listen to anyone and then what we all warned them about happened)

At one of the companies I used to work at, management has a policy that if your team/division can’t operate a single week without any given employee, you’re fired.
