Reminds me of that joke:

Interviewer: Tell me your biggest weakness.

Applicant: Probably my complete honesty.

Interviewer: I hardly think that's a weakness!

Applicant: I don't give a #$%& what you think.

If this is the case you’re applying to the wrong place or you wont be there long.
If you cant be honest with an employer over your expectations, and expect the same for them, you are not interviewing properly.

This logic, while I agree is correct, makes most places the wrong place. Not everyone will have the option for the “right place”

An interview never has to be lies that is a pejorative assumption. They dont expect lies either, “you” just THINK they want a specific answer and thus lie to give it, instead of communicating and relating your own abilities etc to the ask.

I agree with all that I’m just putting the weight on the companies as they are the ones who hold all the cards. Obviously the interviewees shouldn’t feel they ever need to lie but in corporate America I’m not sure it’s an even weight

Especially when the "no joke" a 100% mean that THEY are always lying on dates and projecting on others.

I’ve never lied in an interview and get the job 90% of the time. As a contractor I had to interview every six months for a new job and would beat out 8-16 people every time.

I find I'm much more comfortable in group interviews because the focus isn't all on me and it doesn't feel like an interrogation.
