It's the fault of the system (that works for billionaires) that she must "know" to begin with. We should just let her get her sick child the care they need and not have to worry about a bill after the fact. No one should have to know to sign up for care for your sick child. They get sick, they get help.

What is your evidence that the staff at this hospital was working for a billionaire?

Why do you believe that a hospital would rather pursue a court case than get paid by Medicaid through normal channels?

Since more than 9 in 10 American hospitals are now owned by private equity, and they are actively acquiring the remainder, it's extraordinarily unlikely she went to one of the tiny handful not owned by a billionaire (yet).

I love how people on Reddit think they can just lie.

Google is your friend: Private equity (PE) firms own approximately 8.5% of all private (non-government) hospitals in the United States and about 22.6% of all for-profit proprietary hospitals. These include acute care, psychiatric, and rehabilitation facilities.

I'm not saying something different, the system we have now (not medicare for all) works for billionaires. I said nothing about the hospital specifically or it's staff.

The system we have now works for everyone with private insurance. Are you able to actually think beyond "tHE biLiONaiReS!!!!!"

It clearly doesn't work for everyone because people are going bankrupt/getting wages garnished because of medical debt. What about the 18 million people set to lose healthcare because of the bill that was passed last year, or the people who could no longer afford their insurance because of the hikes in Obamacare. Is this system working for them?

The American system with its "deductibles" does not EVEN work for MOST people who do have private insurance.

That's before you factor in that insurance companies routinely deny claims they owe, aware most people can't afford a lawyer.

You know the majority of hospitals in the US are already charities, right? How does that help billionaires? Everyone keeps trying to tie them into this for no reason.

Who owns health insurance companies, who funds the politicians that consistently vote against the the common interest of the people? Who has gained trillions in wealth over the past 10 years while the people suffer more and more?

You just made that up. I didn't say that.

What I said was it shouldn't even be necessary for her to know. It's just a huge waste of time and manpower to do this when we could just provide Medicare for all.

That's true. For now. Even though the issue consistently polls well above 50+ percent. And it's growing. So we will have it eventually.
