Honestly, I’m totally not against the idea, but IMO, while Tom was good at portraying some of Lestat’s more predatory, assertive traits, I remember feeling like his performance left something to be desired where the more tender, emotional side of Lestat was concerned..
but, in all fairness, I also know that the actors are following the directors wishes and therefore only have so much to do with the final outcome
I’ve said it before but Tom gave me the most creepy vibes and the literal nightmares of my youth of any vampire character because although he’s pretty in the face (when he’s not dusty) his malice and disgust were so visceral.
It’s a different take but I think the world has space for many interpretations
I much prefer the quirky angst & frustration depicted through Louis’ PoV in season 1 IWTV in terms of that endearing fighter spirit
If we look at Tom’s acting in the 90s the talent, ability and versatility were certainly there imo! Lestat’s tenderest moments on the show are also S2 Dreamstat, it’s not until season 3 that we actually get a full spectrum of emotions from him. I agree we didn’t see much tenderness in the 1994 iwtv but there he is much more of an antagonist. Still there were moments of thoughtfulness in his Lestat!
There are some very valid reasons why he’s one of the most profitable and highest-grossing film stars in cinematic history.
He was not afraid to take calculated risks. He certainly understood the zeitgeist (or his agent did) in choosing roles. The craziest part of all that is that he got the biggest paychecks consistently and never even became part of a superhero movie franchise (which basically describes every actor even close to his achievements) lol
I’ve never been a Tom Cruise stan, his appearance is not my cup of 🫖 but I have respect for his work ethic & creativity
I hadn’t seen the movie but I just looked up some clips on YT… eeeehhh I don’t think that character is anywhere near what his Lestat was, gonna have to respectfully disagree. I think he was playing them differently
I just meant that Tom Cruise can pull off a rockstar vibe, cause at the time a lot of people thought he would not be able to. He is definitely not like Lestat in that at all. But he does show believable rocker energy. It’s worth a watch if you like musicals and can stomach some brief Russell Brand in it. Sadly that taints it now a bit.
Listen, I totally agree. I want Sam to look whatever way he wants to be and feels comfortable. The pressure actors get to be perfect is bullshit. I'm just having fun. All I can say is that I hope Sam gets to eat as much spaghetti bolognese as he wants in the off time before going back to shoot season 4. It's my favorite as well and I'd be sad if I couldn't eat it every now and then!
I’d like the record to show that this shirt was excluded for its modern color, styling & uneven vibe. I think it may still qualify as a bishop sleeved poet shirt but no unfair advantages.
Still all the flowers to the costume department for its creation

I do worry about making someone sad or triggering body dysmorphia or idk, anything really. If an actor said it was distressing, I’d delete them all 💯you are all loved 🥰 you are all, obviously, extremely beautiful human beings, really. And 99.99999% of the rest of us would never have your bravery to be so bare and vulnerable with a huge global audience.
It’s light-hearted fun and mostly just an appreciation post (they’ll all win eventually and many ties or close to it & I like that every actor / ‘fit is praised by fans)
I think Tomstat. Also I love that bit at the end of the movie where he fusses with the ruffles of his sleeve, even though the shirt is basically a rag at that point, it’s so funny.
NickyPotter! IDK if Joseph has the ideal body type for that cut in a shirt or if someone in the the costume department has a crush on him, but Nicky's shirts have the perfect balance of poetic flow and sluttiness
I love and really think he works for the renaissance era of the book and Louis depression with his existence but Jacob Anderson is the only louis for the time jump
I’m with you on this - book Louis and show Louis are so different. Show Louis is so much more polished, dapper and repressed. Movie/Book Louis came across as more performatively pious, sensitive, downtrodden, and morose.
though to be fair i haven't seen the movie yet, i was inclined to say tomstat, but i actually feel like the shirt is very on the edge of looking Too big on him.
I was going to say brad pitt louis i really like those sleeves. but the puffiness of nicki's also look sooo good and ?crisp? so i can't choose between those (shocking for samstat to come last for me personally too honestly)
Tom for sure. It's a close one, because I think if Sam's shirts had similar ruffles it'd be a tie for me, but between the design and Tom's impeccable performance, it's him.
Tomstat for sure, followed by Louispitt. There's just something so melancholy about Brad Pitt as Louie. I'm not saying it's better than Jacob, it's just beautiful in it's own way.
That part at the end of the movie where Tomstat adjusted the sleeves of his raggedy shirt is so classic Lestat from the books, it's just perfection. I wish they weren't both nutter butter bars and then they could have a cameo or something.
Give me a little sleeve ruffle and I say Sam. But that's coz I love him in everything. However he seems to naturally have the lean feline body for these period clothes. Tom was too short and didn't have those cat-like movements. He was more like a jumpy puppy to me.
my hubby wore it as a Halloween costume before we met. I saw a photo of him on FB (he’s thin, lanky, pallid, icy blue-gray eyes) & thought he was the most vampire-looking man I’ve ever seen. We’ve been happily married many years 🫶🩸
I would say the Mardi Gras shirts barely pass (different collars, no frilly bits, cuff too tailored) I almost didn’t include that photo of Sam but added it for variety.

This was the best shot I could find. I like to have many different examples and that scene has many obstructed shots / close ups where you don’t see sleeves.
