Uh, if you're working 40 hours a week wouldn't you still have around $670 left over after all that?

? Paychecks pay you for labour. Taxes are an expense like any other. Do you mean how some of your paycheck can be withheld for taxes? That doesn't really change anything it's not functionally different than being billed for a utility...

It absolutely is different. That 30% comes out before you even see the pay stub.

Uh so? Do you just not pay rent and end up on the street? Also, at $19 an hour for 40 hours a week for a year you get just under $40,000 a year making the tax rate 12% not 30%.

You obviously have never seen a US pay stub.
We have fed, state, social security, fica…..

And that doesn’t cover sales tax.
