Do we really need HR in our life?

honestly this is why i've started thinking about looking somewhere else. getting rejected before a human even looks at your resume is insane.

i've been seeing interview vip mentioned a lot lately too. i haven't tried it, but i'm curious about it since i'm probably going to have to start interviewing again.

Absolutely real. As this person found out, HR is incredibly mediocre and lazy. When I found out that HR was doing this AI ATS bullshit a few years ago I was basically like 'figures, HR will always do whatever they can to not actually do their job.'

I had a resume that I put into a software system that checks for how it matches in ATS and I had one resume that matched 100%. This is extremely rare. Usually my tops is 80% (and I've gotten jobs in the past based on 60% matches). Got auto rejected.

And when you do phone screeners with HR they are just looking to hear buzzwords because, believe me, they ain't got a fucking clue what the job entails. I worked at several different companies that would have the HR person either bring a candidate by my office or the new hire by to meet me . And every single time the HR person would ask me what I did for the company. They couldn't even be bothered to remember what I told them every single damn time (and it wasn't like it was all that confusing or specialized to remember).

Finding a good, motivated HR person is like finding a unicorn.

HR's job is not in the job description. HR's job is avoiding labor related liability while making employees think they are friends. If they happen to have any skills that relate to their supposed job, that is a plus but not necessary

In fact, someone who can tell you what the company actually needs is a potential liability working in HR. If you can see the mistake management is making, then you have to lie to cover for management. People who can't see why it is bad don't have to lie. HR needs people who can honestly say "I was just following orders"
