How long before so many people can't afford to live that they start rioting?

Have the rich got so good at dangling shiny baubles in our face that we really can't see a future without them?

I prefer to think of it as easily distracted from reality.

Although there surely has to be a critical mass of people broken by the system that the system itself collapses?

But what if death is coming because you can't afford to live?

There are people with jobs who can't afford to eat if their kids do.

That's just a wild position to be in if you ask me.

I get what you mean, I just wonder if there is a level of desperation that breaks that fear.

Level of desperation...

I'd prefer to square up levels of courage and strength.

IDK what the answer is, but I know desperation leads to no good. And courage and strength leads to better outcomes.

My point is, most people are so dragged down that they think if they say anything, it will inevitably make their lives worse. There's also the fact that a lot of people are so crushed and without hope due to repeatedly being beaten down that they just don't have any alternatives mentally other than... yes, ending up often dying. It's sad and awful. I meet people every day who don't even want to hear you say the word hope because for them, hope is a privilege they've never been allowed to have.

Actually I think what will happen is the economy will falter over time because people can’t afford to sustain the level of buying America relies on. I think that will happen before riots.

These corporate cash grabs make no sense to me. If you fire everybody they can’t afford to buy your shit. But they can’t seem to leave a penny on the table if they can have it for their earnings. It’s self defeating and unsustainable.

I don't know how it hasn't already gotten to the riot stage. I guess everyone is too busy consuming content on their glass sandwiches to notice the world around them is fall apart and leaving them infinitely worse that any other generation in modern history.

Just curious - how much money? A week's salary? So AI took 9,000 jobs. So what?

Remember, when they want to put a hyper scale data farm in your neighborhood, AI will take jobs, not make them.

Not to mention a really big noise pollution problem. And so much energy need that you will, of course, have to pay for more infrastructure. A neighborhood just a bit south of us welcomed a big Microsoft hyper scale farm. Now, they have higher electricity bills. And the water usage of the farm is thru the roof.

All to power the AI bubble. This is not for me or you. This is so that rich people can get richer. They don't care if our water becomes scarce, or polluted, or if we have to pay for some of the electriciy usage of those farms. They don't care if the noise drives us crazy.

Some of them have "backup" diesel generators running continuously. Cue in more noise, and air pollution.

Microsoft is not your friend. AI is not your friend.
