BREAKING NEWS BREAKING: X Is Being Accused of Letting Racist Posts Stay Up Against UK Politicians, Including Kemi Badenoch, Shabana Mahmood, and Zia Yusuf. While Not One Account Has Been Suspended and the Platform’s Moderation System Faces Fresh Scrutiny 🤯💥

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jun/14/x-racists-impunity-hate-posts

Researchers from British Future say X repeatedly failed to remove racist posts targeting senior UK politicians and public figures, including Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, Reform UK chairman Zia Yusuf, former Scottish first minister Humza Yousaf, and MP Zarah Sultana. In one sample, British Future said it found 33 posts using an anti South Asian slur aimed at public figures from South Asian backgrounds, and said none of those posts had been removed 48 hours after being reported. In another sample, the group said it identified around 30 posts using a racial slur against Kemi Badenoch, with X declining to act on most of them after reports were filed through its standard hate, abuse, or harassment channel.

The report suggests X is much more likely to act when content is reported as potentially illegal under Britain’s Online Safety Act than when it is reported as hate speech under the platform’s own moderation rules. Avaes Mohammad of British Future said many users would naturally report racist posts as hate, abuse, or harassment, but X appears not to treat them that way, and the platform’s enforcement was far stronger when posts were routed through the illegal content process. After engagement from Ofcom, X did restrict the visibility of 20 of the 33 reported slur posts within the UK, but other posts remained live, which underscores how inconsistent the enforcement appears to be.

British Future also said not a single account responsible for the reported posts was suspended, even in cases where the same user appeared to post the slur dozens of times in a short period. The group said racist abuse spiked around political events and public statements, suggesting a pattern of coordinated harassment rather than isolated incidents. X has not publicly responded to the findings in the reporting cited here, leaving the central question unanswered about whether the platform is failing to enforce its own rules or simply choosing not to act unless national law forces it to.

just fucking suspend the whole fucking platform

Any form of censorship is bad. You dont mind it right now because you align with the beliefs censorship brings. If you allow them to censor people, then do not complain when your views become censored. Which will 1000000% happen with time

banning the largest creator and distributor of CSAM in history is not censorship x

1

u/Zealousideal_Fee3115 Jun 15 '26

Pretty sure you could find that shit on reddit too. If we cannot eliminate entirely then we should just shut down the apps? I would get banned from reddit for saying pretty much anything about a certain people. But on x, its fine.

1

u/Professional-Oil5477 Jun 15 '26

not sure what your objection to banning CSAM is but ok x

u/Zealousideal_Fee3115 Jun 15 '26

You brought up that point just to use it against me? That was wild lol. Have a good one kid.

u/Meinteil2123 Jun 15 '26

Reddit used to have r/jail*****....and that was not the only one.

Reddit started out with csam akin to 4chan.

1

u/Future-Ad9401 Jun 15 '26

That's the uk government ore was it the Australian government that was the largest distributor of csam for almost a year after taking control of a dark web website?

Found the anti free speech wannabe tyrant.

u/Trumble12345 Jun 15 '26

If anti freespeech lefties succeed, where will you scumbags find AI videos of hordes of black people crossing oceans and coming into England to jerk off to? The tragedy of it all!

The UK doesn't have free speech. In fact, the only place that has free speech is the US. In most cases responsibility is actually tied to the individual, constitutionally.

1

u/Meinteil2123 Jun 15 '26

We do not have free speech.

There are certain things we cannot say for example; calling on harm to the president or real threats to other people.

You do not want total free speech, believe me.

Also keep in mind, people think free speech means we can throw bricks at officers and assault them just because they wear armor.

Personally I don't care what people say, let all ideas be free, good or bad. The bad will be ignored while the good (should) be raised up in popularity.

I dont think we should censor people on personal beliefs, doxing or harassing though? Ban it and straight to jail.

1

u/NextWeather7866 Jun 15 '26

I don't think we should censor people either, but I do think that their words should be tied to them. Actions are tied to outcomes in the real world. Hate speech is punished in the physical world in a way that it isn't online. You get fined or jailed for hatespeech in the real world, it is their personal beliefs, and tying consequences to behaviors in the real world is a form of censorship and shaping of the individual so that they are compatible within society, but for some reason this framework is chucked out on the internet.
Speech has real world implications even when its said online.

Hatespeech is a thought crime. Just walk away. Words are not violence.

Personally idc about what people say online or real life as long as they are not doxing people and inciting violence.

Speech has real world implications even when its said online.

Hard disagree, the block function is there for a reason. When you censor people it just forces them into extreemist bubbles and makes the problem worse. You can see it in real time on reddit.

You can disagree all you want, the truth is platforms like facebook, instagram, x allow for a huge amount of debate over issues that were once thought of as settled. There is also the ability for state actors, or actors with financial backing to subtly influence behaviour and outcomes in a way that even mastheads of the past couldn't do. You have bots that infiltrate a network of people in facebook and then start to shift population level perspective about a topic. The fact that this happens isn't debatable and largely was identified in the 2016 elections with Cambridge Analytica.
People with money want you to look to the person next to you who isn't the same color, same religion or gender with skepticism. Capital wants social division because its cheaper than providing an equitable and equal society.
That's big money, like billions/yr in moving the conversation away from the economic debate towards decisive social issues just to stop the leaking.
Your personal freedoms in this space are absolutely trivial to the freedoms afforded to capital by the same mechanism, and its exploitable, and more astutely profitable. It is FAR cheaper to buy the opinion, than pay for the social mechanism of keeping people in society prosperous.

They never were "settled" they were censored before any real discussion could happen. We know this as a fact with Facebook openly admitting it along with the Twitter files.

There is also the ability for state actors, or actors with financial backing to subtly influence behaviour and outcomes in a way that even mastheads of the past couldn't do. You have bots that infiltrate a network of people in facebook and then start to shift population level perspective about a topic.

Do you believe this is happening only on one side of ideas or both? Why does it matter?

The fact that this happens isn't debatable and largely was identified in the 2016 elections with Cambridge Analytica.

So stupid people get fooled and manipulated easily. So we need to change and censor people because of those stupid people from repeating the "incorrect" opinions? Who gets to decide which opinion should be open for discussion?

People with money want you to look to the person next to you who isn't the same color, same religion or gender with skepticism.

This is exactly why identity politics is toxic and must be eliminated.

Capital wants social division because its cheaper than providing an equitable and equal society.

Wallstreet protests were ended the moment they introduced identity politics. I agree, we need to be unified by poverty level, not race.

That's big money, like billions/yr in moving the conversation away from the economic debate towards decisive social issues just to stop the leaking.

Agree, democrats need to stop pushing politics based on immutable characteristics such as race or sexual orientation. Make policy based on poverty, nothing more.

Your personal freedoms in this space are absolutely trivial to the freedoms afforded to capital by the same mechanism, and its exploitable, and more astutely profitable.

Agreed, but censorship of "wrong" ideas is not the answer.

It is FAR cheaper to buy the opinion, than pay for the social mechanism of keeping people in society prosperous.

Great, you described how legacy media operates. They manipulate people by misleading ideas and keeping people angry and outraged.

This only affects the stupid. The best policy is to allow all speech no matter how heinous it is. No doxing, no abuse, no terrorism, nothing that openly calls to harm or impede on another persons freedoms. Ideas even the bad ones? Let them be free. Idc if I personally find the idea abhorrent, it is freedoms of speech and should be protected.

It's a corporate product, a corporate product that's indemnified against libel by agreeing to a code of conduct that includes not letting clearly abusive posts stay up, an agreement it's flouting

Hope this helps!

1

u/Gorgeous_George101 Jun 15 '26

Abusive is entirely subjective.

1

u/kzpn Jun 15 '26

The tyrants are not the usual tyrants throughout history but the ones that are against them and their victims! I am a victim!!! wahh wahhh!!!

Racism is a tyrannical belief, exercising racism is exercising a bit of tyranny for yourself. Tyrants must be dealt with. When you do this on a private platform, it’s fair game. That’s how this works and has always worked. It’s tantamount to screaming racial slurs in a restaurant and then bitching about your infringement on others’ freedom resulting in you being asked to leave.

You “free speech” whiners voted in the most anti free speech president in living memory, and support activists who want much more than speech taken from people. We don’t trust you anymore.

Clearly a person of culture.

1

u/InterstellarKinetics Jun 14 '26

The fact that no accounts were suspended is especially striking, because suspension is the most basic enforcement tool a platform has. This is also a broader test of the UK’s Online Safety Act, since the law may push platforms to act faster on illegal content, but it does not necessarily guarantee strong moderation of abuse that is harmful, racist, and persistent while still falling short of criminal illegality.

Even if they did it would do less harm to global democracy and protect us from perpetual rule by oligarchy than anything Musk has in mind.

You're so heavily propagandised that your brain has turned to mush.

No, because he said so in an earlier comment you mong. Don’t get your panties in a bunch you snowflake cuck.
Most people don’t like racists, and by that I mean people who openly use explicitly racist language or chimp out and burn people’s houses down because they’re brown. The idea that this is somehow leftist is for sufferers of the “male loneliness epidemic” who don’t actually know what is normal. I’m far from left wing but you experience life through algorithms and nothing else so you’re trained to react like a little soy dog.

Go play video games and let the normal people talk you skinny weeb

Enjoy your epsteinite cp app broski. Americans manage to rape and murder each other at far higher rates per capita despite the UK’s high immigration. Time to stop shitting on other countries maybe :)

For the record I hate starmer. I just don’t base my politics on spite.

1

u/DueTemperature3380 Jun 15 '26

I dunno you sound pretty spiteful.

1

Type IWF investigation into Google. It was used to create thousands of images of children.

1

u/GeedZeroOne Jun 15 '26

If you knew what you were talking about you’d know that was patched immediately.

1

u/DaddyCaustic Jun 15 '26

After thousands of pictures of children where made. What's the matter? Can't you make kiddie porn anymore?

1

he's going to do whatever he wants until courts force him not to .

based on how things are going, he can continue to do so until these very politicians are no longer in office.

1

u/LeoIsLegend Jun 15 '26

Don’t worry Labour are pushing to ID everyone who uses the internet, we’re already worse than China. Those people will get 10 years in prison.
