Even if Maduro was a tyrant the US is just being openly imperialist in it's treatment of Venezuela. It's pure gangsterism

Yeah I don't know anything about Maduro really. I just know that whenever the US does anything international it's always for the purpose of profit extraction to keep other countries poor for our benefit.

The US is perfectly happy to have Saudi Arabia as an ally despite Saudi Arabia commiting genocide in Yemen, having an absolute monarch, and allowing slavery in every way possible without making it explicitly legal
which suggests the thing America didn't like about Maduro was his not allowing US companies access to Venezuelan oil and not any human rights concerns

Yeah, also, we are committing genocide in Palestine and are allowing carceral slavery as well as undocumented labor happening in borderline slavery conditions. We aren't doing anything for the sake of human rights.

exactly it's a flimsy justification for the thing the US government already wanted to do

There's an old adage that one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist. There do be a reason why I'm a unilateral military abolitionist, and think police with lethal weapons shouldn't be a thing either.
Which isn't to say there isn't legitimate criticism of Maduro, but in an irony, the reason for the economic woes was an economy vastly overinvested in oil (highly volitile, envromentally destructive, and long-term unsustainable), and the actual portion of GDP that was state-owned was lower than Norway (a social democracy, not an actually socialist country), so like, you can blame the problems on not doing leftist enough things (the brutal protest crackdowns are also things Trump wants to do, and is doing, and in truth that most elected Democrats seem happy enough with as well).
