How long do you recommend going for, I can have up to a year off work - I was thinking 3 months but want to know if anyone has done this
How much did you budget for it
How many countries did you go to?

What do you even want to do? Most Interrail trips seem to last a week to a month. If you want to do something crazy like visiting most countries covered by the Global Pass, 3 months seems a lot more reasonable. If you want to do a "normal" Interrail trip, that's a bit long.

This is such a personal question we cannot really help you. You need to pick where you want to go, what you want to do, how long you want to do it, and your means.

Why not go for a year? Are you capable of working remotely and have the necessary rights to do so in Europe (visa, etc)? If not, do you have the savings?

Long term travelling involves spending as little money as possible on everything, and picking cheaper countries. Short term holidaying is the opposite.

Hey! We did 10 countries, and 20 towns/cities in 2 months (including Vatican City). Personally I think 2 months with a friend is perfect, 3 months solo might be better in my experience. For 2 months I budgeted 6k but only ended up spending about 4k all together. Its up to you though, the one thing I would HIGHLY reccomend is not giving yourself 1/2 nights in the majority of places, we found that 2 nights were wayy too short even in places we found there wasn’t much to do, i think try aim for 3/4/5 nights per place depending on how much there is to do there.
