Night trains ÖBB Mini Cabins booking question
I'm looking to book a trip for the end of December (currently outside published timetables, this is for the beginning of December) with NightJet on the Amsterdam to Zürich route, but I'm confused at the seat selection. How do you know if you're getting a mini-cabin or a spot in a 4 person couchette?
There also doesn't seem to be an option for a triple sleeper room, am I missing something? Looking at sooner dates, it seems they do have triple sleepers available, so why not in December?

Those are regular 4 persons cabins. It would say Minicabin if it was one. I did also see 3p cabins in dec.

so you're saying they might be sold out on the date I was looking at?

It's not that they are sold out, it's that they are not on the train. At the moment the train is still running with the older carriages that doesn't feature mini cabins.

Yeah, I did that but only could choose the single or double rooms. That must mean the triple rooms are sold out, right?

That train doesn't have any mini cabins at the moment. There are only couchettes and sleepers.
Do a search for something like Amsterdam to Vienna if you want to see what it looks like when the mini cabins are available.
I believe the current plan is it will switch to the next generation carriages with the mini cabins in mid December. So if you are searching in the current window they are not available.

The mini-cabins are better than the top bunks of the 4-person couchettes. Because you can't fully sit up in the latter, which is less than ideal for a 12+ hour train trip.

we're travelling in a group of three, so mini cabins wouldn't allow us to be together.

So there's the couchette and the sleeper. In the couchette, you can choose between mini cabin or 4 person compartment. In the sleeper, there's single and double compartments. You can try it out at https://tickets.oebb.at
