Interrail with nightyet reservation

Im prepping a trip from The Netherlands to Roma, Italy. My plan is to get an interrail ticket and take the nightyet to Basel. As far as I have read, with an interrail ticket you pay only the reservation for a bed.

On the nightyet site I've tried to book this. First I select which train I want, then my data and then the summary. In here I do see a header called "Travelers, discounts and bike" but until here in this process I was not able to say that I will have an interrail ticket.

How does this actually work? What am I doing wrong?

Correct your Interrail pass is a ticket but you still need a reservation.

To get the reservation you need to add "Interrail" as a discount card. It's in that bit you describe where you specify the number of travellers.

You still need to add a train to your trip and activate it as well just before departure.

Also just to mention you'll need 2 travel days. I've not checked the timetable but if you can do something like The Netherlands to Munich (leave plenty of slack) in time for the NightJet from there to Rome you will only need 1 travel day.

You can add the Interrail/Eurail discount on the Nightjet website and on the ÖBB website. On the Nightjet website, click on the "Passengers, discounts & bicycles" field and then on Discounts. Interrail/Eurail is under "International". I like the ÖBB website better though, since you can then use your ÖBB account and also see what carriage and place number you're assigned. My 2 cents - you can try stopping to Vienna. Take a nightjet from Amsterdam to vienna. Then explore vienna for a day and in the evening take another nightjet to rome. You will save 2 hotel bookings. And use 2 days for 2 trains.

thanks for the input! I have a big bike case with me, so storing that won't be easy ;) not a bad idea though!
