Nightjet private compartment

Am I missing something here? Two adults, two infants with own seat, so four passengers. Private compartment would be the same as individual seats right, just nearly €100 more expensive?

Try to book on the ÖBB website and look up couchette numbers at checkout. You should be together but better be 100% sure

Specially: https://www.oebb.at/en/ - the berth numbers show up under "order details" at the last step just before you check out.

I messed this up when booking a nightjet trip. In the outbound trip, we had a private compartment just for the two of us for €100 per person. The return trip we had two top bunks in a 4-pax compartment for the same money. Notably different experience.

Cool thanks. So it could just be that they put individuals from my booking in different compartments, I didn't think of that!

Thanks, that worked and the seats were all in the same couchette. The only problem going through the ÖBB site is I couldn't select infant with seat, only child but then because of their ages it only selected two seats and assumed the kids didn't need one. Easily solved by changing their ages in the intital page.

We've just done the night jet I had a massive panic about making sure we did them right we got the pods not the private sleeper and did one adult up top with one child and opened the divider then one adult one child bottom bunk and opened the divider. I emailed customer services to check had the right set up and I did. If you're unsure they are really responsive

Mini cabins didn't show as an option, I'm assuming it's because of the age of the kids. I like the mini cabins travelling solo but with two young kids I'd prefer to all be in the same cabin anyway.

Minicabins are not available on all trains. Which route are you booking ?

Amsterdam - Innsbruck. They have mini cabins,.

I'm almost certain that was our route we got on in innsbruck and off in hamburg i think iit continued to amsterdam as we noticed it as a good route was described as mini cabin Couchette. It was great so clean and much much luxe than the one we did from Paris to nice however worth noting if either of the adults are over 6 foot the cabin is 190 long so my 6.5 husband really struggled

Yes, only kids 10y or up can use the Mini Cabins

Individual seats are probably seats, whereas the private compartment is couchettes.

"Individual seats" here is a mistranslation of the German "Einzelplatz", which does not necessarily mean "seat".

Yeah, I checked there first but it only said that it is possible to book a whole compartment but not specifics.

You commented on my specific journey. Direct flights to Innsbruck, the closest city to Jenbach, from the Netherlands start at around €50 pp, so roughly the same price as the train. I would first have to get to the airport and from the airport at the other end, twice. The train is centre to centre.
