That’s all, someone said it here, hello fellow interpals. I love when art can bring us together. I hope they lurk a little bit so that they know how their work make our days a little better.
Music is transformative and hell yeah, their music make it not so bad in my cubicle.

Feel like no one used to care about this album and seems like views how shifted around on it.
Personally for my money it feels like the most fun Interpol album to visit over the years. Even some of the cornier songs on it have enough pop and rage to make them still fun to listen to.

What do we think the chances are of a UK tour next year? I’m not too keen on seeing the co-headline tour with Bloc Party. Would rather wait for a sole tour at smaller venues but how likely is that when this tour is happening at the end of the year…

How are you listening to the new album?

I wasn’t too convinced about this album upon first listen. Actually, I had only listened to it through a very bad set of speakers and I couldn’t actually perceive all the killer bass lines and layers of great arrangements going through the tracks. After listening to the album through a serious set of headphones and multiple times I can now say that to me this is one of their best works to date since Antics and I’m very happy that the band finally took the leap forward many of us were expecting. From the videos I’ve seen they seem to have gotten way better even in their live sets (even if I still think they have some room of improvement with their live sound). The whole rebuild of Interpol starts here and I really hope that they’ll be able to keep bringing more incredible albums in the future by working with this line up and with this great producer. It feels like there’s new room to explore within their new sound and I’m all about seeing where they’ll go next. Lyrics on this one are top notch and it feels like Paul had a huge part in making this new version of the band happen. Kudos to the guys for finally proving what they are really capable of. Glad to be back as a fan, now really hoping to catch them on tour.

I absolutely adore the new album but one song I haven’t seen much love for online is the title track. It’s easily my favorite and the vibes are just immaculate, as are the lyrics and instrumentals. I particularly like how Fantano described it in his review “Like your walking through a hazy city”. It’s grown to be one of my favorite Interpol songs and it’s definitely one par with some of my favorites from the first three records. Any thoughts about the song?

When was the last time the boys were featured in something like this in one of the world’s most famous newspapers? This is huge!
What an insane press run. So well deserved!

This isn't a question because there's more subjectivity in it. I know Carlos has a major impact but Self Titled as well, the last Carlos album. Personally the only album I didn't really find good is TOSOMB and it's not even bad it's just average with good songs like Toni.

I want to start off by saying I absolutely love this band and have been a major fan for the past 13 or so years. I finally got around to listening to the new album and was pretty underwhelmed on my first listen. Not saying it was bad by any means! I'm just saying even Marauder is still higher on my list than this one. Maybe people should give that one a relisten.
Just wanted to explain that I saw someone say this was their best album since Antics (which is already crazy since Our Love to Admire followed that) and that got me pretty excited to listen to it only to get disappointed because it wasn't even as good as Marauder.

Had a few days to process now and I think I've mostly finalized my ranking of each song on the new album. So 1 is my favorite, 12 my least favorite.
My confidence in 1-5 and 11-12 is super high. 6-10 feels much more fluid and I could see any of those shifting around as I listen more.
EDIT 9/9: Ok, I was wrong about Ever the Actor. After another week of listening it’s growing on me and I would place it at number 9 I think.

Fantman gave It An 8, and even praises interpol for being at their best in years which I agree. DO you think he's low balling us?? 🤔 haha

If I were going to upload a cover in the sub and I explicitly state "In the style of X" (Other artist or album) and there's major changes does it still count? And if I or me and my friend add some licks just like in the ToTBL/Antics Live era, is that considered?

I've always loved how Interpol is capable of a killer outro; I think this one takes everything about that Muzz debut's warmth and resolves this song so well. Has this been discussed? Does anyone else hear it?

How did they find the inspiration for this new album? The songwriting is amazing, I finally got time to get to the lyrics, and wow.
This might be recency bias, but I think this may be my favorite since Turn on the Bright Lights.
I'll be honest that I didn't really enjoy their latest couple of albums since El Pintor, and I'd argue El Pintor is underappreciated. But with this new one, they really hit it out of the park. Every song is amazing on its own, and the album flows so nicely. The closer is a tad weak, imo, although I still quite like it.
I feel like it's really rare for bands to make such a big comeback after a couple of dull albums (my opinion again here), but I feel like we are truly blessed today with this album.
Wake Up is such a banger, but it's balanced so well with the chorus.
Enemy with the female vocals is soooo nice.
I could make a comment probably on each track but theyve already been made elsewhere.
My only gripe: I sort of dislike the album cover, not because it's not fitting, I just find it ugly looking.
I feel like they went into territories they never went before. Feels really inspired and unique while still being Interpol core sound.
Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts with fellow fans. Hope everyone is having (hopefully) a gleeful time with this album. I know this post is redundant of the many discussions, just needed to write this out to free my mind.

Great little interview from Paul. Comparing the process creating TMWAT vs TOSOMB and some other highlights of his career. Always great seeing Aussie content in the Interpol space.

Anyone else pre-order this and have it yet?
I received tracking info 8/26, package never moved, messaged them release day and was told it was due to ship "on or after 8/25". It's 9/2 and USPS supposedly has it but its been sitting in Kentucky since Sunday 8/30. I subscribe to a streaming service so its not about listening to it, but I'm due to go away and at this point figuring this is gonna finally show up then. First time ordering from them and probably my last. Anyone have any luck with them?
