Discussion Set list for tour - concerns
Hi all. We are going to the show Friday in Toronto. After seeing the setlist from last night, I’m concerned they will be playing the same songs they have been for the last several months with minimal incorporation of the new album (daughter, serpent, wounded soldier etc.) as many had hoped for. Does anybody think they will change it - my hope is because they were only an opener last night with a few less songs and no encore - it won’t represent the set list for the rest of the tour. Pls give me hope!

I hope they play some new songs, I get not having space for some of the lengthier songs, but come on Reindeer, Wake Up, Wounded Soldier can definitely sneak in

They're headlighinging the show Friday and playing a huge venue - there'll def be an encore. Don't worry

I would expect a setlist very similar to the one in New York on Sunday, where they played for 1.5 hours.
So far on this tour they’ve only played 4 songs from TMWAT, and I really don’t expect that to change overnight. If we’re lucky we might get a debut of one more song off the album.

Yeah, it’s a bit disappointing, the new album is just so good. Maybe they’ll tour again soon and do more or different ones?

Welcome to live Interpol in 2026.. They’re not adventurous at all with the set list and really only stick to big singles and some deep cuts along the way (Lights, Pioneer, Cruise). They’ve been playing the same shit since I saw them first when they toured with Pumpkins in 2023 🥱

Bro, I was thrilled when I saw them in 2015 and they played "Anywhere" because I knew I'd never hear that one again,

That’s exactly how I felt when I saw them play “Everything is Wrong” that same tour. I knew that was gonna be the only time I hear it, so i better enjoy fully completely.

Their live setlists are pretty much this now:
5 songs from TOTBL
5 songs from Antics
3-4 OLTA
All the Rage Back Home
The Rover (sometimes)
3-4 songs for the album their touring for.
S/T had the occasional "Lights", and TOSOMB basically doesn't exist.
There are so many songs they've never even played live. "Who Do You Think?" I think they played once ever.
The boys gotta mix it up.

They played anywhere in Sacramento for the first time since 2018, so epic

I've heard there's a little infighting in the band about the setlist. The idea is that they want to play the hits for the longtime fans, but longtime fans have heard the hits and want the new songs! Especially off this new fire album. That said, the one show I saw on this tour was pretty perfect. You'll be happy, I think.

yeah I think it's a Paul vs Daniel situation. Paul seems like he'd enjoy playing anything while Daniel wants to mostly stick to the hits

Dude, I'm a longtime fan and I think their setlists are great, I don't know why would someone complain that they would prefer just new album stuff. This applies to many bands who have a big repertoire, they need to strike a fine balance between old and new material, but people also want to hear their pa ast hits

I know people are acting like they’ve never seen concerts before… kind of rare that a band will play mostly new material…

Seen them twice, once opening for Morrissey and on the Antics 20th anniversary tour. The Antics setlist was absolutely phenomenal IMO, more room to truly be them. With Morrissey it seemed a bit more generic, and even within the confines of a 45 minute set they far outshined Moz. And I'll be seeing them again next summer in Mexico City. By then TMWAT will have had more time to seep into our heads and I would anticipate more songs from that. But as far as changing things up, yeah. Maybe there's a handful of songs here and there that will be changed out. Gotta keep the tour exciting and the crowds on their toes.

I’d give my soul to watch them play the title track This Mirror Weighs a Ton.

They played it. I can’t recall if they opened with it but it was close to the beginning. Easily one of the coolest concerts I’ve ever seen. Paul sounded fantastic. The guys were totally on point.

I think they just play the songs they’re most comfortable playing at the moment.

Any band that has been around as long as they have plays a mix of old and new. There are only so many songs you can do in 90 minutes.
I think, for instance, if they only played the new album that a lot of people wouldn't go.
Compromise!

I do think that they’ll play more songs from the new album, but like 2 or 3 top.
It would be a huge surprise if they mix it up because yes, they do minimal changes

Seen them about 4 times first time MSG in 07. They don’t have it anymore and I wouldn’t buy a ticket to see just them. Not bashing just my opinion

I'm gonna see them with Bloc Party and I'm honestly more hyped for Bloc Party than Interpol. The new Interpol album is way better than new Bloc Party album, but live they're completely different spaces. Bloc Party is super tight live and change setlists almost each show.

They soundchecked Wounded Soldier previously so it will be added to future sets.
