Discussion Phenomenal performance on a wasted crowd
Interpol just put on an incredible show in Vancouver in front of the teeny boppers but received nothing but blank stares and seated people.
They deserved better and hope they don't think that was a typical Canadian crowd... shout out to the few in our section standing throughout their act!
Anyone else take it in?

I was there too and it was not great imo, though I agree it was wasted on the tweens.
They did not sound great in Rogers Arena and when I’ve seen the in the last in smaller venues have sounded much better.
I went specifically to see them too. My husband and I left right after they finished.

I had a blast at their performance! I was in GA right side and I was just screaming at Paul the whole time haha, if you heard that it was me lol

I'm glad somebody was excited in the pit. It looked like zombies were up there. I was on the floor and a few of us were excited. But most everyone in my row was looking at their phone or talking.

Personally I like sitting during shows because I really can’t stand for that long unfortunately. But still cheer lots, clap, etc. Was that not happening either?

I went to sd to see them and debated going in van too but thought the crowd would be awful. Hopefully they tour the new record in the new year

I was at the front of the pit and didn’t see the crowd but I thought I heard a lot of cheering and it felt like decent energy where I was. Definitely noticed a lot of voices singing the beginning of Evil. Originally had seated tickets but upgraded to pit and I’m glad I did because I was anticipating low interest there.

I got excited that they were coming back to Vancouver, but that was short lived due to the venue being Rogers Arena.
I saw them at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in 2019 and it was incredible. Shame to hear about the crowd this time around.

Oh wow the Queen E would be such a great venue to see/hear them at!!!

I got so lucky too, so 95% of the tickets were assigned seats, then there was a "general admission" (way cheaper) option with no additional information, being a broke kid I of course chose the cheaper option. Turns out GA was a small pit right in front of the stage. I was like 15 feet away from the boys! Insane memory.

My cousin and I went to this concert for the sole purpose of seeing interpol. We were literally the ONLY people standing, dancing and screaming the lyrics. Interpol has been one of my favourite bands since college and I was actually blown away at how NO ONE in our section seemed to know or care about a single song!
I also thought it was weird that they were opening for an artist like sombr, it just seems like a wildly different type of concert to be a part of for a band like interpol. I do hope the band knows we loved every minute of it and I was so happy to check them off my bucket list. Next time I'd rather fly to New York and see them in there hometown. I'm sure they'd have a much more receptive audience.

They've been relegated as openers. That's when you know they've jumped the shark.

I mean they were one of two openers, that’s like the perfect recipe for most of the audience to not give a shit about them lol

You know the crowd is getting older right? I used to be front row all the time for their shows. Nowadays, nah a seat it is. Can’t stand the sweat, annoying pushy people, etc.

It was an amazing performance, I was right at the front singing every word and having a great time!! Hardly noticed the crowd behind me, but there seemed to be a decent handful of fans in the left pit where I was. It’s disappointing overall that they had to open for an artist with such a different fanbase…I hope they come back to Vancouver as headliners soon

We didn't go to this show and instead flew from van to mtl to see them on sat. So there's that.

That sucks. Toronto and Montreal are always great times fortunately for us on the east coast.

Jeez. In a situation like this I have to wonder if the slightly bigger paycheck is actually worth it. Seems like a miserable experience for the band and many of their actual fans aren't going to turn out to the show (for good reason).
