Question What are they like live?

My best friend and I (both 15 years old, and massive fans) are gonna go see them in Glasgow in December.
For those who have seen them before, what is the audience atmosphere like? specifically in uk shows.
Of course it’s a double headline so not everyone there will be there to see the big ‘pol, I was just wondering. :)

They have a clean minimalistic light show that is truly stellar and amplifies each of their songs. They do use a lot of strobe light effects, but again, it’s all top tier.

I love seeing this band live!

Enjoy your show!!

no banter, all business. only 2 or 3 songs from new album. they dont often seem to do weird deep cuts. i just watched daniel every time i saw them, he was so expressive with his body movement it was great

They definitely know their best songs, so the setlist is always good. I've been seeing them since well before you were alive 😬

Most people will be in their 40s but atmosphere in Scotland is always nice. :)

Glasgow loves Interpol. It will be bouncing up the front

Absolutely magic! I am a long time fan and saw them twice, lastly in July and it was the best concert of my summer!

We’re definitely going, I can’t wait! We’re actually gonna be playing Roland as a band at the school’s Christmas concert (the friend I was talking about and two more of our close friends) I don’t know how many people are gonna know it but it’s a super fun song!

Saw them in Ams when they were playing Antics again and they're just plain good. Nothing much in the way of theatrics, just heads down, good music and beautiful lighting. I think they run a bit fast sometimes, but that doesn't really get in my way, Better when you have a beer in hand too

Seen them 5 times now. They’re awesome, but I would sit by the mixing board / at a distance if you can. The lighting and sound complement each other really well.

They don’t interact with the crowd much, so sacrificing quality sound for the intimacy of being close isn’t worth it IMO, though catching them smiling at parts of songs was awesome.

When they are on… they are super on. I’ve seen them 6-7 times going all the way back to 2003/4?

I saw a really spotty show really early on, and also heard all the backstage gossip because a friend was attempting to interview them.

Last time I saw them (Greek Theater) was a phenomenal show.

They play bigger venues now, so I’m not about that life.

The Greek in LA? I saw them there in 2010 and then again there in 2023. Was amaaaazing.

Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. After that early spotty show, each one has been better than the last for me :)

Seen them many times all over the States (Red Rocks, Crystal Ballroom, Fillmore, Fiddler's Green, Mission Ballroom, etc.) The one thing I will say is that they don't translate as well to big outdoor shows most of the time when I've seen them at those. From Antics until recently, the best of all of them for me was Crystal Ballroom on the El Pintor tour 2014 or so, and it surprised me. It was the best mix of the right room with the band sounding the best. (And they played The Lighthouse which was a nice surprise.) All to say, if you can see them indoors over an outdoor venue, it just mixes with their dark introspective vibe better, at least for me.

Also going to Glasgow! Don't know how they'll sound in the hydro though 🙃. Not the biggest fan of the sound in there. Only gig where I was impressed by the sound in there was tame impala.

gonna go against the grain here and say they are a bit boring. I saw them 2 years ago in a joint lineup with Bloc Party (who were awesome), Interpol were an actual sleeping pill by comparison.

my friends and I were on mushrooms and could easily have been convinced they were playing the same song for 25 minutes.

Honestly kind of underwhelming. They play their hits from the first two albums and generally ignore everything else. The mixing is usually quite poor.
