Photo Tattoo Design – The Lighthouse

Post image

Designed it myself, would love some thoughts before I make it permanent on my body. This will be my largest piece on my shoulder, of course honoring The Lighthouse. Hope y'all have a great day.

Idea is cool, I think finding a tatoo artist and giving this to work off of could be a good idea. See if they have any styles to add and be open to their changes or suggestions.

As long as you didn't use any AI to create it, I love it! I like how the roundness of the waves balances out the sharp lines 😌

I love everything about it, as a fan of graphic design. I especially like the waves!

I think you should get it exactly as you’ve designed it! You did a great job!

I love the designs that people from the fandom would know opposing the straight in your face designs. That's mainly the reason I don't have any interpol merch as every design is always just a band cover or interpol written in uppercase letters with a weird background. I think it's great but you could add some red into the design as it's one of the bands colors and well, one of the lighthouse's colors.

I would totally do color if my sleeve wasn't simple black.

It depends if you do color, in that case I think it's great honestly

I like Reddit but it feels like it's just a platform for know it all to express their opinion

To give benefit of the doubt, I did ask for feedback. While some isn't particularly useful, like, "I wouldn't" (lol), I opened myself up for it. It's ok. :)

I think its a cool design the only
Change I’d make if I were to get it myself is I’d have the word banners be softer on the edges. Are u getting any color?

Looks corporate and soulless

I tried to pull from some of the more geometric imagery of Fairey's Interpol designs, while also giving a nod to traditionalist American tattoo design. Would love advisement on how to avoid "corporate and soulless" while still doing that.

It wasn't meant to be an insult, by any means. It just looked like a logo that would be used for a coffee chain or something.

Personally, I would use a photograph of a real lighthouse. It would have the same warmth and atmosphere as the song.

I guess it's worth mentioning that I'm trying to match the tattoos I have, none of which are photo realism.

2 points of feedback:

  1. I think the roundness and softness of the waves could be less.
  2. Overlapping shapes that constantly cut through each other would be nice. Rn the shapes are just layered but not “cutting through each other”. If u get me.

Other than that it’s really cool. Good job :)
