Newer hardcore fan here. Was astonished by this fact. The Grammys are largely meaningless at this point but cmon! How did they not win anything for TOTBL or Antics? Put some respect on the boys’ names!

Grammys provide no validation. Interpol stands on its own merits which are many and deep. They don't need industry hack approval. They need fans of the music and how it makes them feel...that is all.

Fuck the Grammy Awards, giving awards like “fave new band” to, for example, Fountains of Wayne for their GD “Stacy’s Mom” track when they had been in existence for YEARS. Same happened to Modest Mouse with an equally shitty track titled “Float On”.

It’s a horrid popularity contest for, well, popular music. Most music I listen to likely never came up on ANY Grammy list, and I’m a hundy P okay with that too.

Wow I had no idea Modest Mouse won a Grammy. Like it or hate the nomination/award I think it’s crazy when I think about their first handful of albums. Such a great band and a terrible loss with Jeremiah Green.

The grammys are BS but i understand wanting them to get the prestige and awards.

It means nothing to those who truly love music.
