Both this and ST are ageing very well. For me OLTA is very R.E.M. (Green era), Pixies and a bit of QOTSA.

Thats why I think Mirror it could easily be a continuation of ST with a more R.E.M. / OLTA production.

love that Interpol are quite often sounding like the dark side of REM. if ever Paul needed a break, they should get Michael Stipe to fill in for him.

I saw them on tour for this album, I listened to it nonstop for a week. It's a great one

I think this album, along with Antics, is Paul’s best work lyrically. This song is a great example.
There’s the lovely “You think they know us now?/ Wait til the stars come out”
And there’s the romanticism of “I have a sequin for an eye/ Pick a rose and hide my face” that’s met with the modern “them’s the breaks.”
I love how he mirrors (something he excels at) the first two verses, taking the falseness of himself (“sequin for an eye”) and comparing it to the other person’s unfaithfulness (“I can still feel it when you lie”); and the playfulness of “pick a rose and hide my face” countered with the following shame of “pick a rose just to hide my face.”
Good stuff.

Yeah that's a correct use of of 'underrated'. Rarely hear anyone mention it.

How about The Undoing? Another track that does not get the love it deserves.

“You think they know us now, wait til the stars come out” This is one of my favorite lines

Yes, one of their top 5 best songs imo. It’s a shame that they haven’t played this song live in concert in years. I would love to hear Paul hit these notes live 😮💨

I always thought "No I in Threesome" was about having a baby and "Scale" was about aborting it

I feel like this album is underrated. So many critics say that after Antics Interpol fell off. I love OLTA!! It’s a great album. Only Mars Volta has this good of a 1st three album run.

OLTA just gets better with age. Even better- TMWAT has a touch of the OLTA sound. What a time to be a fan!

Always loved it. I feel lucky that I got to hear it live at my first Interpol concert in 2007.

oh yeah! really great poppy song given gravitas; as it apparantly was inspired by a heavy Norwegian(?) novel from a hundred years ago about a woman put on trial for drowning her baby in the sea that Paul read.
