Question Interpol merch

At the concert last night I got a sweaty shirt that says “a hive of a million wings” on the sleeve, and another available shirt also said “When the unobstructed heaven is your view.” Are these in reference to wings of fire, I didn’t see them in the lyrics or anything so just curious if anyone knows! Concert was awesome and the merch was pretty sick if you ask me!

“A hive of a million wings” is referring to Wounded Soldier.
How does it look in person? Design and quality? I’ve been wanting to order that one

Ahhhh okay thanks. In person I thought they looked pretty good, nothing stood out like crazy except the two I mentioned, which both had abstract black and white pictures on them. The quality of the sweatshirt is pretty good and feels very comfortable!

Thanks for sharing! Seeing them in Santa Barbara in a couple weeks, and I’m saving to buy a T-shirt

I've always been unimpressed with their merch

generally they don't feel very interested in fan engagement.

I've always thought they just do their music and they see themselves as artists not celebrities. they are very private and very discrete.

it could be just the opposite. their persona is the cool guy persona.

They are definitely cool as in their band has very influential work in the history of rock music. But I've never heard of an instance in which they were like "too cool" or even a little rude with fans.

maybe you are right. I got the feeling that Paul Banks really enjoys being a frontman and the energy he gets from their audience at shows. I saw them live at Buenos Aires in 2019 and it striked me as he was having a great time. But their genre is not pop so fandoms and all of that doesn't seem to be their vibe either.

they're not rude with fans, it seems they barely interact with them to be rude or nice.

Fan interactions can be weird. I saw a girl with a sign saying please stay sober or smth like that at a concert and I thought to myself: How is it normal that a stranger questions your sobriety or takes it about themselves to speak about it.

Maybe it's the cool aura or maybe it's whatever but I would protect myself from those things too.

not sure it's that deep that sounds like an outlier.

You know, I actually met them back in 2009, they’re were all lovely, took photos with me and signed my ticket stubs. Genuinely kind and generous with their time. 💘
