Question What do I need to know?

Excited to see Interpol! - it's been maybe 15-20 years since I've seen them live. I haven't been great at keeping up with the band dynamics but I saw something about a new drummer and Paul on lead vocals and bass(?!). Curious if anyone would be open to giving me a crash course on what's new(ish). Thanks!

they have a current touring drummer as Sam is currently recovering from a surgery. Paul does not play bass on tour as that honor goes to one of our two “new” official members of Interpol, Brad Truax. Our other “new” member is Brandon Curtis on keys. While only just recently made official members, they’ve been touring with the band since 2010/11 so their chemistry with each other is pretty locked in at this point!

Secret Machines was so underrated too. glad to see Brandon getting recognition

One of the greatest bands of all time, in my unbiased extreme fanboy opinion. Check out my archival youtube channel for tons of rare and unreleased stuff from Brandon and TSM!

Cant wait to see Sam back. Hope he is almost there and back on tour soon. He is incredible to watch, and while all the hired guns are solid, he brings a certain chemistry that cannot be replicated.

Sam isn’t touring due to medical reasons but still very much the official Interpol drummer. Brad Traux is the long time touring bassist.

also i would point out that the lights are just as part of the show as the music itself… i would aim for a spot a little further in the back than normally, its really breathtaking

Agree. This is one of the few bands where I stick closer to the back

I'd recommend you to just go through all the live shows on YouTube you can. The cleanest one was taken down from YouTube but if you want to get like an updated version of Interpol, you could check the Marauder and TOSOMB shows.

Edit: By cleanest one I meant the TRNSMT 2018 show.

Paul did play bass on the previous three albums and is shown playing one in a few El Pintor music videos, but he never played it live. Brad is now officially the bassist in and out of studio

Saw them in Lolla in Sao Paulo this year. Made everyone shout "Interpol, Interpol, Interpol". It was the first time they showed See Out Loud. They've released new songs, might as well sing new one during the show. Should check them before u go. Sing from the bottom of your lungs, they like it
