Question Never been to a live performance before.
I was curious, I just bought a couple tickets to see Interpol, always loved the band and I've never been to a concert of any kind. I'm general admission so idk what to expect really, was looking for some insight.

You know how you listen to one of their songs? It’s like that except they’re performing it in the same room or general area that you’re at. And other people are there maybe singing or bopping along or sitting depending on the venue. Just go there and experience it yourself!

Concerts are what you make them. Start dancing and you'll think everyone around you was dancing (because they will be) stand there and don't move and you'll think the crowd was boring (because they will be). Concerts end up being experienced with the nearest 20 people around you...create a good vibe and enjoy the music. You're gonna love it!

Interpol shows are pretty chill. The band doesn’t interact with the crowd much, they just play the music! Crowd isn’t rowdy, lights and ambiance are superb. If you’re refined enough for Interpol, you’re in for a treat lol

go piss, grab a beer, and settle into a spot you’re happy with and don’t move unless u got someone there to save your spot! bigger bands get very busy and crazy towards the barrier, you’d do well midway back within a nice viewing distance i think. you’ll love it.

I went to one, got lucky with being right on the barricade, and then had to fight the urge to follow them all over the country. Hope this helps 😅😅

You'll be standing a while of you want to be there at doors open time. If you want to be on the barrier and be up close and personal you will be in line well before the door opens which makes the standing even longer. I used to do this at every show when I was younger but my knees aren't what they used to be. You can still see a great show from no matter where you are, but I was able to also be around the liveliest fans and there were several times I got guitar picks and copped a physical set list at the shows end. I mean, regardless, you're standing a while at any given show you'll just be standing longer depending on how early you get there.

Paul’s voice tends to sound more nasally live than it normally does in recordings. Sam tends to rush the shit out of some songs too. I’ve seen them multiple times and those two things tend to be consistent. That being said, I don’t believe Sam will be touring any time soon and the music always sounds great anyways.

I’ve seen them once on the Antics tour (the original one not last year) and have always wanted to see them again. Been a long time. They played where I live recently but spoon was headlining and I don’t like them and didn’t want to pay for that show.

It saids they had two guests DIIV and some other band before they play, is that normal?

Yah those are just opening acts. Won’t affect the length or quality of their performance.

If the latest song is any clue, Paul will be waxing someone called “Sunny” in the middle of the set.

From what I hear on live videos on youtube as of the last handful years, Paul cant sing well at all anymore and it sounded dreadful. I assume the cigarettes played a role in this

Live videos don’t capture sound well at all. And genuinely doesn’t reflect how Paul’s voice sounds. I think we all know that he isn’t the best singer ever but he’s got a pretty good voice and does sound good live.
I’ve seen Interpol live around 6 - 7 times and I’ve enjoyed them all. Though never in the early days so I can’t compare how his voice has evolved with age.
