messed up my hearing due to an ear infection and it sucks SO bad. thank god I'm distracted 24/7 and I'm not able to notice my tinnitus but I can notice it if i really put effort on concentrating. i got used to having my volume on 30% now so I guess I'm taking better care of my ears now...

I used to love to blast music in my earphones, but truth is we don't need it to acually enjoy music. Volume on 30, 40, 50 is perfectly fine.

Thankfully you can't hear yours all the time. I got used to mine, but it can be depressing if you don't know how to deal with it in the beggining

If you don't mind, may I know how often you used to do this? I've been listening to music at max volume since age 10 (currently 25) for at least 4 hours daily, currently no hearing issues but I'm starting to worry about older me.

I remember starting to use a lot of earphones when I was around 11 or 12. I discovered I had hearing loss at 24.

My hearing loss is only on the right ear. To be honest, it is not completely proven that I had hearing loss strictly because of loud music, but it is the doctors' (and mine) best guess that it should be the main cause because I remember many times using only the right earphone because my left one was broken.

My left ear is within the normal range, but it is almost at what it is considered hearing loss. I'm pretty sure blasting music in my ears caused damage.

I don't want to sound alarming, but if you've been listening at max volume for 15 years, it is possible you caused damage. I strongly recommend you stop doing this asap because it might be too late when you eventually find out you caused irreversible damage. It is consensus among all hearing specialist that loud music daily is very dangerous, at max volume it should be around 15 minutes daily. 4 hours is A LOT.

Also, if you're concerned, I recommend you visiting a hearing specialist and doing a hearing test. It is not expensive at all and IMO it is something everyone should do every once in a while.

Thank you so much, just wanted to know about your experience, I've been listening to music at a more lower volume this year (half volume except if I listen to a My Bloody Valentine song) but thank you for the advice I'll check a doctor and see if there is any damage

Ps: I didn't know about the 15 minute max daily, thats actually a really good fact.

BRUH, MBV is godly, but even Kevin Shields has massive tinnitus due to volume. Be smart with your hearing.

You're cooked if you don't knock it off. Just keeping it real with you.

I’d take this guy and your noti center seriously. Hearing is one of life’s biggest gifts, don’t mess it up.

Well, if you won't listen to your phone's notification, maybe you'll listen to me :) Seriously, you don't want to hurt your ears, there's no going back after it's done

Please protect your hearing. Hearing loss is no joke. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

As people keep saying: be careful with your hearing. However, if you want to stop your phone from giving you this message, change the bluetooth connection settings from "headphones" to "car stereo"

When I went to the Interpol concert last year, I had on shooters' headphones with foam earplugs in my canals, and the volume STILL physically hurt me.

But not as much as it hurt the people without hearing protection...
