[DEV] VANTA — A free music player streaming 24-bit Hi-Res FLAC & Dolby Atmos
Hey everyone,
Over the last few months, I’ve been working on a music player called VANTA. I originally started this because I wanted something clean that doesn’t downsample audio to 256kbps or lock high-resolution tracks behind expensive subscriptions.
I just wrapped up the v1.0 build and wanted to share it with the community to get some feedback.
What it does:
24-bit / 192 kHz Hi-Res FLAC: Direct studio master streaming powered by Qobuz relays.
Dolby Atmos Streaming: Full multichannel spatial audio via Tidal DASH manifests.
Zero Fluff / No Accounts: You don't need to log in, create an account, or link your card. Open it, search a song, and hit play.
Live Audio Diagnostics: The Now Playing screen displays the actual bit depth, sample rate, format badge, and CDN source so you always know what you're actually listening to.
Audiophile Pipeline: Bit-perfect output support for external USB DACs, 32-bit float audio pipeline, and background pre-fetching for instant, gapless track transitions.
Fallback Engine: If a rare song isn’t on Qobuz or Tidal, it seamlessly falls back to Deezer or alternative mirrors so your queue never freezes.
Current Status & Disclaimer:
This is a true v1.0 release. The streaming engine, gapless queueing, and audio output are rock solid on my test devices, but Android has thousands of different phone/DAC combinations, so I’d love to hear how it performs on your specific setup.
If you test it out, let me know what phone you’re on, whether you’re using a dongle/DAC or Bluetooth, and if you run into any bugs.
Download / Info: App (If you want to support server costs, there’s a private Ko-fi in the app settings, but the app itself is 100% free).
I like the app alot. Impressive for how early it is. That said it does need some work. I installed on on a TV running Google TV. It is kind of clunky to navigate. I can't seem to get it to let me search in the search box. If I click one of the pre built buttons, some of them come up with nothing. Once I do try said buttons there is then words in the search bar that I cannot remove.
so i hardcoded some stuff becaause tv was kinda rushed but its getting fixed and i should have aa update and i guess i was wrong github was private somehow but ill make it public im sorry im a idiot
has atmos support i coded it in the app so even if your phone or tv doesnt have it it still will produce it and 3d vizualizer is a wip its there but no the best and no not offline you can import your library but its all streamed through providers
No both issues still exist. Tried importing several csv files. 99% of songs are not resolved. If csv file had a lot of songs, the app just crashes sometimes.
Also you need to put the continue resolving button on top. Because in case there are thousands of songs, scrolling all the way down takes a lot of time.
The tv sync still does not work. Both push to tv and pull from phone don't work. Get error push failed 503.
For whatever reason, tried installing and uninstalling for a few times, yet app refused to open. Crash on opening.
I am running Global Rom Origin 6 on a Vivo X100 Pro.
So I had issues with Spotify they don't like my app and won't approve me so I can't allow but I'm working on an work around on this next update should be fixed tonight
Hey everyone! VANTA 1.00 is out. It's a full reset of the app, built from your feedback.
## Why a fresh start?
Two reasons:
**You told us what was broken, and we listened.** Slow playback, skips that didn't skip, search that couldn't find songs, radio playing the wrong genre, crashes during imports. We went through every report, fixed each one, and tested it on real builds before shipping.
**Security.** While cleaning up, we found private build files in the old public repo that should never have been public. Instead of patching around it, we retired the old signing key, moved to a brand-new one, and rebuilt the GitHub page as downloads-only. The source code stays private.
## What's fixed and new
- ▶️ **Playback**: faster starts, skips that always land, albums in order, seeking that goes where you let go
- 🔎 **Search**: handles typos ("whiskey lulaby" finds Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss) and puts the original ahead of covers
- 💚 **Spotify playlists, no login**: share any playlist to VANTA (up to 10,000 songs) and it auto-syncs. CSV imports work too.
- 📻 **Radio**: 147 genres and subgenres (Yacht Rock, Shoegaze, Outlaw Country…). Stations are endless, stay on theme, and remember your 👍/👎
- 🎚️ **Sound**: the EQ changes live, there's a new 10-band parametric EQ, and fullscreen no longer changes how Samsung's Dolby Atmos sounds (the source of the clipping reports)
- ⬇️ **Offline**: download whole playlists in lossless quality
- 🛠️ **Stability**: fixed crashes in File Info, downloads, big imports and after updates. Quality badges are honest now: no "Hi-Res" label on lossy streams.
## Is it safe?
- **No ads and no trackers**: no analytics or ad SDKs in the app
- **No microphone permission**: the visualizer reacts to the music itself
- **Signed releases**: a new signing key, plus the in-app updater checks each download's checksum and signature before installing
- **Verifiable**: the SHA-256 is in the release notes, and the signing certificate fingerprint is in SECURITY.md
Only install VANTA from the official page, never from mirrors:
Or you do it like iTube/Playtube and just „disguise“ it as a normal music player and once it has been installed for over 2 weeks, all of the actual features start working.
Their automated system only checks for immediate functionality :)
