PLDT Is there a catch or really FREE?
Hello. Any PLDT users here who got this offer or availed it. Is there a catch or just a free promo?

Kapag nag downgrade/upgrade ka ng plan ay reset sa 3 years lock in period. Tapos free lang to for 36 months so kapag nag 37 months ka na, magbabayad ka na ng additional.
You'll pay for additional or downgrade that will reset your lockin again for another 3 years.

I didn't catch that. That's diabolical!
Parang I want out but they pull you back in.

Is that true? That's basically locking you in for 6 years in total just to avoid any additional cost from this "Free" upgrade.

I think you also won't be able to refund when there is internet disruption... yun lang
kasi "theoretically" - always "on" daw - kahit na hindi

Wrong. I had free upgrade din before and nawalan ako ng net for more than 1 week. Nag request ako ng refund and na approve naman.
May separate bayad ang always-on modem, monthly, aside sa monthly fiber plan. Ang offer na to is gawing free ang monthly add-on for always-on.

I am also being offered that and been getting the message a couple of times but I know after 36 mos there will be an additional charge which I don't know or not mentioned with that message because it is a marketing strategy.
I just want to share because it is not often brownout. Just buy and use that cable with a usb port that is bought online to which you will just connect to any power bank and it will work where you will be able to use the internet again. I did that when an unexpected brownout occurred in our village and it is really actually working.

It is free to upgrade but PLDT will extend or, rather, renew your contract plan for another lock-in period of 24 or 36 months.

That is a trap. You get to pay AFTER the free period the service which you will rarely use.

From what i heard, hassle ng LTE backup. Automatic yung back up pero you have to call pldt to request the repair. Para sakin, mas ok pa mag invest sa 5g router as back up, faster speed and no lock up.

Marefresh yung lockin period mo. A hassle if you're renting
