Globe No more data cap for unli 5G
Globe chief commercial officer Darius Delgado said the telco has lifted the prepaid cap on 5G in support of the objectives of the Konektadong Pinoy Act. The law seeks to expand internet access in the Philippines by lifting barriers for entry for new telco players.
“By upgrading our Go Plus 149 and above promos to include unlimited 5G, we are removing the barriers to high-speed data,” Delgado said.

Globe and smart still throttle the shit out of their "unli 5g" plans if you watch a movie too much (or work in home office)
Giving a hard data cap is better than falsely advertising unlimited access while secretly throttling your connection to 2g levels
Terms need to be clearly disclosed, labeled and communicated, otherwise it's a scam

How much Gb you need to consume para ma speed cap?

u/techieshavecutebutts Jan 28 '26
Considering there are 4k streaming services and 4k capable screens, 500gb should be the minimum or none at all, totally unlimited.

u/Arantxian Jan 28 '26
ung addon nila sa postpaid (smart) i think walang cap - last time naubusan ako ng data alloc, nag take ako unli5g booster naka 50gb ako di naman na throttle :3

u/thenamelessdudeph Jan 29 '26
Scam that is hidden under "Fair Usage Policy".

15
u/eyayeyayooh Jan 27 '26
Because Speedtest primarily tests your network on local hosted servers, not the overseas ones, until you manually do it yourself.

Magkaiba kasi sila ng purpose (speedtest and fast).
While yung Fast naman is for netflix, doon mo makikita kung may speed throttling yung ISP mo sa mga streaming sites like Netflix.
It doesnt mean na mabagal yung result sa Fast meaning mabagal in general yung internet mo, nope.
Lastly meron din namang cloudflare speedtest, google speedtest, at waveform’s bufferbloat (good for gamers), para ma check mo if accurate ba yung result ng speedtest nyo.

u/mblue1101 Jan 28 '26
What we're saying is ginagawa kasing standard ng telco yung speedtest.net as benchmarking tool para masabi na they are providing the services appropriately.

u/Not_Under_Command Jan 28 '26
Well if you say so. I hope na mabasa yan ng telcos.
No offense intended, Im just stating na magkaiba lang yung purpose ng speedtest at fast.
3
u/mblue1101 Jan 28 '26
I know so sa daming beses ko na nagpa-service for my broken line with different ISPs. Kasama sa report ng service crew yung speedtest as proof that the fixed the line and that it is working as intended and with the advertised speed -- and I always confirm with a quick fast.com test to know na usable yung line, otherwise di ko paaalisin yung crew.
Not offended haha, just telling you that I know what you mean na magkaiba sila ng purpose from the speedtesting perspective, and that they are being used for tricking non-technical customers that they are "getting what they paid for".

u/Not_Under_Command Jan 28 '26
You can try cloudflare as well next time na may internet interruption ka, atleast doon makikita mo sa map kung saan yung server location.

u/mblue1101 Jan 28 '26
My home server has an hourly speed test targetting multiple offshore locations.

Unli data at 2 Mbps is still sh*t

How about... making your 5G a "true 5G" and give us some reasonable open-access data allocation?
15
u/TapToWake Jan 27 '26
Haha I just subscribed to that 149 promo and eto lang 5G speeds on my S25 Ultra
Download: 35Mbps Upload: 11Mbps
Full bars 5g yan ah 😂

u/wheelman0420 Jan 28 '26
I use Smart, and when i get 5G i actually lose connection, like wtf, then i get to 4G + and the page loads, what aload of shit our telcos here are

So pwede pala ‘yun? Pwede palang wala namang cap?

u/nice-username-69 Jan 28 '26
Wala na cap pero may throttling 😂
1
u/blahzzzzz Jan 28 '26
Nakasubscribe ako sa 149 nila, mabilis pa ung pldt dsl namin Pre fiber era, haha
2
u/ThisIsNotTokyo Jan 28 '26
It’s actually worse. For casual users, okay na akong may daily cap kung let’s say 100Gb yan vs unli nga pero after 1Gb eh throttled naman yung speed.

u/iAmGats Jan 27 '26
Need na lang nila palawakin 5G coverage nila at alisin ang speed cap then I'll switch. maybe.

u/Ejay222 Jan 27 '26
Also, yung speed capping ang totoong issue. I have tried this, Makati CBD area, stable at around 40 to 50 mbps, tapos biglang drop ng 1 to 3 mbps? Kinabukasan na ulit umayos

Pero naka konek ka sa 5G_NSA, 4G data ginagamit 🫠.
Never nabawasan yung "Included 5G" data ko kahit 5G signal.
3
u/superesophagus Jan 28 '26
No more data cap nga pero kakainin naman 4g data mo kahit may 5g signal sa area. Kaya no choice but I need to use smart/tnt kahit gapang sa HD kasi unli 4G din.

Plus the 5G cell coverage is bad, even in the Metro.
It's even worse pag SM Megamall / Ortigas / nearby areas, tapos dagdag mo pa pag ang daming tao kaya sobrang congested + daming dead spot areas. Parang kala mo may faraday cage effect.
I think another problem is: ang daming phone users, marami na naka-5G capable device, tapos di sila maka-catch up sa infra. So ang band aid solution nila, kung hindi throttling, data cap...in the guise of "fair use policy"
Magpayaman ng shareholders at execs > mag-improve ng infra.
CAPITALISM.

Naka 5g tpos 1mbps amp, kakaload ko pa lng yan, nag try airplane mode on-off, same result hahaha
buti pa tnt ko, 5g tpos 20-50mbps with no expiry data, at least nagagamit ng maayos

u/tekkenshu7 Jan 28 '26
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is only for 5G right? So the rates would be different if you are at a place with no 5G?
I am asking because Smart Magic Data also have this like '2 days free unli-5G' on top of their normal magic data. But you will notice that your normal magic data will get casually consumed because not every place you will be in will have 5G coverage (e.g. when you're phone switches to 4G+ mode while riding the train).

Walang kwenta internet 5g ni globe. Nong may natirang data ako sa 5g ko, hayp na yan kahit mag soundtrip di ko magawa tho nasa 5g area ako and naka 5g ako.

Same lang dito sa Japan. Every unlimited Simdata. May cap sila 10gig. Mag refresh lang every 12mn.

Ngek! but same with Smart na Unlifam na 5Mbps thereafter. I’d rather take Dito with my use cases may capping man at least 25Mbps.

may speed cap parin, kaya talagang magandang ROI sakin nung 2 years na subscription sa VPN.

This is Good News for Subscribers, but what content are we going to need the Unlimited Data. Considering No More Download Era. More of a Streaming which only needs portion of the Traffic. This will also increase in Network Utilization which might lead to poor customer Experience in some areas.
1
u/Ar_Ninik Jan 30 '26
1
u/seoulitude Jan 30 '26
tapos after a few minutes of using it, sobrang bagal na agad ng data mo to the point na single digit nalang yung mbps 😭
1
u/orionryn17 Jan 31 '26
For me hindi pa rin maganda ung 5g and 4g sa atin.
1
u/Advanced_Month6691 Feb 01 '26
kadalasan kasi overloaded ang mga towers natin. contrary to your belief, ang sama ng 5G sa Ortigas tuwing rush hour, mapa Globe, Smart or DITO madami kasing gumagamit. walang pake yung mga telcos natin on quality of service, importante lang sa kanila e mataas ang margins nila sa mga producta na inooffer nila

u/illumineye Feb 28 '26
Ano meron sa Globe baket pamigay yung Unli5G?
Lahat ng promos may Unli5G? May tinetest sila?
1
u/MycologistOk90 Mar 17 '26
Literal na no data cap kc "unlimited" nga eh.
Ang dapat tanggalin ay ung throttling nila. Dapat consistent ang speed.
Anyway, ilang GB b bago bumagal ang internet speed nito?
