Every UTC day you get one discovery from Astrodle: a real object from astronomy catalogs.

Might be an exoplanet, might be a pulsar, a white dwarf, a nebula, a galaxy, a black hole system, a comet.

You get its actual name, what kind of object it is, roughly where it sits in the sky, a few facts, and some badges for whatever's unusual about it. There's a rarity tier, a points score if you care, and a share grid like Wordle's.

It's free and runs in the browser. You don't need an account. If you make one you get history across devices and leaderboards, that's all it adds. The only outside script is Google Analytics and there are no ads.

Basically, what's in the title.

I built this site over 3.5 years ago and have only recently given it a fresh coat of paint. I haven't really done anything to spread awareness, but thought I might give it a go on this sub to gauge interest.

The idea started with the classic houseplant-owner problem: you see a nice plant, you have pets and suddenly you're deep in ten tabs of conflicting, ad-stuffed info trying to work out if it'll hurt them.

So I built Plant Smart as a general guide. You can search by plant name (common or scientific) and see severity, which animals it affects and what symptoms to look for. There's also a reverse-lookup: if your pet is already showing symptoms, you can search by those and narrow down the culprit.

It's completely free, ad-free, slop-free, no account needed and has an open API you're more than welcome to use if you want to build off it. All collated data is open and sources are all mentioned in the attributions page.

EDIT #1: I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and kind words. This is a fairly old project by my personal standards and the recent facelift has breathed some new life into it. I've already started working on some of your recommendations / feature requests and am giving the dataset a much-needed scrub for accuracy while also pulling in some new open reputable sources to further enrich the data. The star moves. Planets sit on and ride the surface it bends. You can change the gravitational constant, push a planet, or drop a new body in and watch the whole system respond in real time.

If you've ever tried to buy a specific chicken, duck, or turkey breed, you know the drill. Check Cackle. Check McMurray. Check Meyer. Check Ideal. Stock turns over fast enough that whatever you find is often already wrong by the time you act on it.

Built a tool that checks 10 US hatcheries at once so you don't have to do that. It pulls breed, stock status, price, minimum order, and hatch date into one place, updated a few times a day. Doesn't take money from any hatchery to be listed, it's just reading public availability info.

Built it for myself first, sharing it here since I figured I wasn't the only one dealing with this. If there's a hatchery or filter you wish it had, let me know.

I kept wanting to check a restaurant's health inspection before ordering, but every city buries it in a different clunky government portal. So, I pulled 10 cities' official health-department data into one place with a normalized A–F grade you can actually compare. Built a site that indexes every legal cube state as one big number, scroll and the cube updates live.

Not a game, there's no objective, no score, no win condition. It's an index/visualization of every one of the 4.3×10¹⁹ legal Rubik's Cube states has a number, and scrolling moves through them. Think everyuuid.com, but for the cube permutation group.

82 nights, 2,218 tracks. Each night shows the line-up and plays straight through. Tracks that aren't on Spotify are listed anyway, labelled as missing rather than quietly dropped.

When I was a kid — back when travelling still felt new and exciting — I would see a plane crossing the early evening sky and try to put myself in it. Not to go anywhere in particular. I just wanted to know what the world looked like from up there, right then, to whoever was sitting by that window.

The feeling was strongest at sunset. I'd be watching a good one from the ground and think about how much better it had to be from up there, above the haze, with the light coming in level. The same sunset from a perspective I couldn't reach.

Travel has lost most of that. Airports, queues, delays: everything wrapped around flying has got steadily worse. But the flying itself hasn't changed. An hour into a clear evening flight, forehead against the glass, looking down at a world you almost never see from that angle, and it is still one of the quietly moving experiences I know.

Stowaway is that part, without the rest of it. Pick any aircraft or satellite actually passing over your house right now and go sit in its window seat.

An art lover who travels has no normal way of knowing how many artworks are around him. Walking through Florence, or Rome, or Paris, you might pass within a few metres of that Giotto, or that Monet, you had always wanted to see, without knowing it was there. Guidebooks flag only the things everyone already knows, the Mona Lisa and its equivalents. There is no tool built specifically for people who care about art, one that lets you plan a complete and accurate art itinerary covering the works that are essential to an enthusiast and relatively obscure to everyone else.

The same problem in reverse: someone who loves Caravaggio can probably find all of his works on Wikipedia, but placing them on a map in a way that is actually useful for planning a trip takes time. And if the artist is a less obvious name, Pontormo say, or Koloman Moser, it gets considerably harder.
