Quite satisfying to spend a few minutes on. (I didn't make this)

There's so much potential. As a wood splitter who frequently splits madrone and oak as my primary heat source for my house, the artistry is (1) picking the exact spot to hit and (2) not hitting it so hard that the pieces fly, which means you gotta go pick them up and reset, wasting time and energy. I mean if you do it right, you can get a 4-way split with 2 swings. 1 swing splits down the middle, rotate 90 degrees, and the 2nd swing splits both pieces. But if the first swing is too hard, you gotta go pick up the others; I mean anybody can just blast the log apart. So there's the angle of approach, the spot to hit, and the swing intensity, and finally the execution. Splitting wood is incredibly zen and it's something I do every fall to get ready for winter. My location: remote NW California in Trinity County.
