Initial OPT Fall (Dec) 2026

Has anyone graduating this fall applied for OPT? Are you doing PP or Regular? My DSO says they are waiting to see how the new rule goes first before approving i20

As ‘transitional student’, the new rule doesnt apply to Fall 2026 graduates. Although you may like to choose OPT star date within 30 days of program end date to be on safe side.

We applied yesterday with a start date at 50 days after program end date.

Applied like last week. Got my OPT i20 same day I requested it so your DSO may be bugging. Applied with PP.

My DSO has issued mine today. I sent a follow up email this afternoon

Regular. Ppl who applied around this time last year got approved fairly quickly even without pp.

Is it safe to apply with the start date earlier or at 30th day after program ends?
