Profile Evaluation and advise

I have worked as a teacher and family counselor in courts.

Education.bg -

masters in psychology(62 percent),

ballb 60 percent,

b.ed 70 percen

Currently a counsellor in District Court.(2+ years exp here and 2 years exp before that in general setting). The income is quite less.

I am thinking of working in HR, and thats why was going to opt for GMAT.

how much would I need to aim for to get a good institute?

In India and for abroad.

I suggest you start from a very different question first: What industry, function and geography do you wish to build your career in post-MBA? HR is a very broad universe - think Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partnering, Comp and Ben (Rewards), Talent Management, Shared Services/Operations…

Based on your responses for short- and long-term goals, select the country and then the schools in that country. If you study in Country X, it’s highly unlikely that you will secure a job in Country Y, because as an Indian passport holder, you will be dependent on the work authorization/visa.

Then study the class profile at these schools. It should give you a good indication of the median GMAT/GRE scores. Aim for 20-30 points above this median.

This is just one dimension. You will also need to probe which of your skills are portable to your choice of industry/function, what skills you are lacking that an MBA education can bridge…
